Hi, I am planning to develop an article website around a niche and i want to target Long Tail Keywords with 4-5 Keywords in it. But i have some questions and if someone has some experience i would like to hear some opinions. 1.) I know that i have to SEO optimize every article which means good Interlinking, proper Title, H1 Header, unique content which has the keywords naturally in it. I heard that Long Tail articles which targets 4,5 or even 6 Keyword phrases do not depent so much on backlinks. What is your experience? 2.) To have an idea i want to target low competition Long Tail keyword phrases which shows in Google Adwords Keyword Tool only about 500 Global Search Requests per month. How many visitors can EVERY article have on average per month or per day? 5, 10 or 20 visitors on average per month/day? Again i am asking if someone has experience in this. I know that there is no sure answer for this... but lets say a site has 3000 unique articles and every article is proper SEO optimized for low competition Long Tail phrases... 10 visitors for every article per month maybe sounds very low but for 3000 articles that would be 30000 unique visitors which converts better because they come from a Long Tail search. Again the 10 visitors is totally fictional from my view... I heard someone saying 1-2 visitors per article per day which means 30-60 visitors for each article per month is very easy... Whats your opinion? 30-60 Visitors for every article per month would meanfor a 3000 page website 90000-180000 unique visitors.. 3.) The basic keyword or the 2 Keyword phrase of my niche is very competitive. Also the basic keyword and the 2 keyword phrase have a high CPC in adwords keyword tool showing up. Thats the reason i am targeting Long Tail phrases with 4,5 or 6 keywords in it because i simply cant compete in the near term with already established websites. But i have noticed a difference in the Adwords Keyword Tool. The CPC for the basic or 2 keyword phrase is about 3-4 USD... but the CPC for the Long Tail phrase is 0.05 USD. If i have Adsense Ads on my articles based on what CPC will i get paid? For example someone searches for "KW1 KW2 KW3 KW4 KW5" and he reaches my article... The ads that show up on my article will they cost 0.05 USD to the advertiser??? Even if my Long Tail Article ALSO includes the VERY COMPETITIVE 2 Keyword Phrase "KW1 KW2"??? Can i somehow block cheap ads on my Long Tail Articles?.. I know my articles are Long Tail articles but they also include the MAIN competitive keywords in it and they are more targeted and they convert much better. 4.) Web sites targeting high competitive keywords need much work to rank high... IF they rank high... and this is not going to happen in the very near term because a new site dont have authority... also its being said that new sites targeting high competitive keywords go into the Google Sandbox for a period of 12 months or so.... What about sites with articles each one targeting very specific Long Tail Keywords? Do they rank faster? Do they have a shorter Sandbox period? If so how long is the Sandbox period for a Long Tail article? Again the Long Tail article is part of a website which has 3000 Long Tail articles about the SAME basic niche but every article targets another Long Tail. 5.) Again consider content is unique and every article has about 500 words. The articles are written from me or bought from article writers. Also the articles will appear slowly in Googles Index. I cant magically write or buy 3000 articles in ONE day!!!! I know that it takes time to build up a website with 3000 articles... I am very interested to hear opinions on my questions if someone has experience in this area... Thanks in advance George
Even if you intend to target a long tail, you must not make it obvious that this is what you are doing. As the Masked one himself says, imagine you are a search engine, and you come across 10,000 pages all about 'high absorbency cat litter supplies Denver'. What would you conclude? That its a real site created by a wierdo with a cat litter fetish who lives in Denver? Or that it's a splog, designed specifically to try and game the SERPS? I dont intend to have a website ALL about one keyword phrase! Tha would be stupid. Again i say i intend to create a website with large content... About 3000 articles and every article targets a DIFFERENT Long Tail keyword phrase. Thanks
In terms of how much t raffic you could expect - the best case scenario is that you get to the top of serps for your 500-search-volume keyword, in which case you may get up to 35% of those search hits - i.e 175 a month, 5 or 6 a day. But that really is the best case scenario, they are an awful lot of variables that would mean the figure would be a lot lower.
Ok i know that this is the best case scenario. But are 10 visitors per month for a well seo optimized long tail article doable? Or am i too pessimistic??? Thanks George
