Long or Short domain name?

I am about to buy a domain name for my new ebook.

I am actually not sure of the name of the ebook yet, and this is why I am asking this question:

I am thinking, the domain should be identical or almost identical to the name of the ebook.

So, if I call the ebook "Why We Suck At Internet Marketing", should the domain name be whywesuckatinternetmarketing.com or should it be a lot shorter, maybe even different?

Like internetmarketingfailure.com, imfailure.com or whywesuck.com and so on?

    What do you think?

I am not sure of the name of the ebook, so this is only an example (but not very far from what I have been thinking).

    Thanks

    Jens

The shorter the better, I'm quite surprised you even asked this question, but it's fine.

A short and catchy domain is your best bet.

The reason I asked the question is that I have read somewhere that the domain name should be your main keywords as well, and that it should reflect the content of your website... this is probably most of all related to search engines.

I understand that the shorter the better as for people to remember it, and it looks better with a short one.

    Thanks for your fast reply.

You can have a short domain reflect the main keywords also.

It can be short too though:ex. HorribleMarketing, MarketingSucks, suckingatmarketing

Find a good balance. you don't want it to be too long where people have a hard time remembering it. But you also want it to be keyword-rich and easy to find through search engines. Try something like whywesuckatmarketing.com or wesuckmarketing.com. You want it to be memorable and short incase you setup an affiliate program or if people are coming back to your site often.

A short domain is definately better, but in some cases it isn't as good. Yours isn't one of those cases ;)

Thank you for all your replies.

    I have one more question.

Let's say that the title of the e-book will be "why we suck at Internet Marketing", do you think it would be ok to go with the following domain?

    imfailure.com

it's short, but internet marketing should probably be a keyword at both the site and the domain, and in the domain Internet Marketing is only to letters (im).

    What do you think?

imfailure.com is a good name. it's marketable and memorable, so in the long run with a lot of backlinks and site content you could get some good traffic. I'd say more important than length is keywords

If you included the words "internet marketing" in the domain, then sure you'll get more search engine traffic. you could try something like wesuckimebook.com that way you'll have a keyword in your domain.
