Hello everyone I am trying to figure out what would be the best option for a website: (1) A One Page Long Sales Letter Type Website OR (2) Multiple Page Website Has anyone had any experience testing out the two different formats and seeing which one converts better? At least in my personal experience when I see one of those long sales letter type websites my brain automatically goes "here we go again, someone trying to sell me something" Any advice will be appreciated as I am trying to decide which format to go with. Thank you so much.
Go with a one-page sales letter with multiple departure points. I find that if you have more than two or three pages, customers will get disinterested by the time they get to the sales page. On the flipside, no one really wants to read a giant page full of testimonials and promises. Give people the option to click through to the sales page early if they don't want to keep reading.
Yes. It's impossible to know in advance. The results over time are so unclear, I suspect other factors drive conversion (or failure thereof). To muddy the waters even further, lead generation definitely works better with multiple pages. I think (but can't prove) this has to do with gaining commitment, especially as I'm usually looking to weed out people and save the client from having to deal with every crank that comes along. My advice - test both. This free tool from Google can help you do that.

Use common sense. Use one, SHORT, sales page, with the ordering form down on the bottom. Keep them reading, on the very same page, without them having to click on any links. Then, when they are done, there is the ordering form.
I have read many similar threads about this question and it seems there is still no definite answer to this ... I think the only way I can find out is to do some sort of split test .. thanks and I hope more people keep posting to this thread about their experiences ... has any one ever done a split test where you have one page sales letter vs multiple page website ?
I would use 1 short sales page. But make sure it does not look like a cookie cutter sales page. I never buy from them people.
My experience has shown that long 1 page sales letters work better. The key to this is to get the thrust of the message before the fold. That way if a visitor does a quick glance or read, your message is there in a quick read. However, unlike the poster above, I disagree with having multiple departure points. My best results come from having only one place for the reader to go-the payment page. It is too easy for visitors to get distracted and I want them thinking about only one thing-buying.
