Just wondering what the downsides of regestering a domain name that is quite long? like a search string.. targeting soap making.. "learnhowtomakesoap.com" would this show up in the top results when people typed in " learn how to make soap" search string in google??
Long full keyword in domain will be easy for your visitor to remember. It will be good to use keyword in domain. I agree that the result of that keyword search will appear at least on the first page of google. I have tried it and i see the result of it. It has a pretty good ranking for that key phrase given that it is only a month old, has a PR of 0 and only 277 backlinks. I guess that key phrase isn't that popular. As for the original question, in my opinion the shorter the better, its easier to remember and quicker for people to type. Where as websites that have overly stuff their domain names eg. www.buycheapbabytoysforallyourchildren.com Keep It Simple Stupid K.I.S.S Method
