I have a friend who runs a local landscaping company in my area and I'm redesigning his site for him and thought while we're at it we might want to get him a shorter domain name. I'm not sure if it's ok to post the name, so the name is:

    G****** G***** LANDSCAPING

He currently owns the domain-name G******G*****LANDSCAPING.com

I understand the keyword "landscaping" is a great keyword for SEO and it is his company name. So, it makes perfectly good sense to keep that.

My concern is that in the off-line world, it may be difficult for potential clients to type or remember all this. Or, even advertise for that matter (we did a new logo for him so he wants business cards, shirts, signs on trucks, etc...) and he has next to nothing going on with his site now so i don't think it would be a big loss going with a new domain.

My question is, should he keep the existing domain name or look for something shorter?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. It kinda has me at a stand-still with development.

Find a short, catchy name and redirect it to that domain. Use the shorter name for offline promotion and still have the site on the real name, bingo!

Make a research. Is Landscaping the only phrase in the niche that has great volume? What are the other words that you might be interested with? Make a list of them all
Then start playing a word game. Try to find a nice catchy combination that includes your preferred keyword but also has a relevant, brandable aspect with real-world meaning. It should read and sound smoothly to be memorable. landscapingdreams, diamondlandscaping, masterladscaping etc.
