    Hello?
I'm thinking to buy a new domain,my problem is that I have no idea of SEO...
Which choise is better? What domain name should I use? Long and describing(maybe 20 characters) with many keywords in it,or short name with just 2 words?

I'm really confused...Isn't the long name better for seo? Will google like it?

    Any help is highly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

I work on the following website the-little-things-in-life When starting on this project over 3 years ago, I did wonder about the length of the domain and the amount of hyphens. It's certainly not a negative as the site ranks in first position on Google UK for the competitive terms, wedding jewellery and bridal jewellery as well as a host of others. I guess it comes down to the quality of the website and the follow up work that determine the success of an online venture

    Good luck

Both the above users are correct in their place. Though having your keyword in your domain name helps you in rankings but it takes a lot of other factors that help in your success. When you sum up all the factors, domain name has less effect. So i would suggest you to go for a 2 word ( the most competitive one in your niche), easy to remember domain name.

The less dashes in a domain name the more value for SEO.

Generally shorter domains are better, however in competitive niches most of them have been taken.

    Hi,

Use a short one and try to get one which is unique and can be remembered. SEO will be alot more easier on a name that does not have alot of competition on keywords. For example if you geta domain name lets say electronics, becoming number one will be alot tougher and more expensive because you will be up against the big gunners. Go with something more unique and that is niche specific on what your selling. Will be cheaper and Google will pickup on it as well.

Short words that are easy to say and spell are the best domains out there. But there are some times when you'll want to get a long name domain if you want to target a certain keyword to get ranked #1 on search engines.

It's easier to get ranked #1 if you have the keyword you're targeting in the domain. If you're thinking of making a general site or blog, I would recommend sticking to something short and easy to remember.

    Best of luck :)

The best compromise is to come up with the shortest domain possible while using at least some of your best keywords to describe your website.

    Good luck.

Ideally the shorter the domain name the better, but the most important thing whether long or short is that it is getting traffic for the keyword you are targetting it for

Shorter domains are more about branding and marketing to humans. Long domains have more of a change with SEO matching words and phrases for a ranking bonus. You have to ask yourself what is most imprtant to you right now. Branding seems to be the buzz of the day right now.

Ideally it is better to use keywords that are short and small that are easy for the Search Engines and people to remember. If it was my choice to make then it would be wise to use a smaller domain.
