I love this stuff. There is corruption and waste at all levels of government, but this blatant and massive stuff needs to be exposed. I hope the people who were down on Boris when he won the election, now realize that he's just saved Londoners an enormous amount of money.

I'm not one who would consider myself a Conservative - in previous elections I've tended to vote Lib Dem, both local and national. I've gotta say though, I've found myself very impressed by the recently policies introduced and planned by Boris Johnson. The banning of alcohol on the Tube is a measure that should have been taken years ago, and I can only assume it wasn't under Ken Livingston for fear of losing popularity amongst the public.

Decisions for the good of society, rather than for the opinion poll benefits, is certainly something that appeals to me and no doubt will to many voters across the UK. Hopefully more will follow suit in future.

I'm disappointed in the Times writers you have these days...Chateauneuf is good wine, from a good region (one of my faves, though I prefer Gigondas); but if the Rhone valley is the true "value for price" region, to truly show how much money was hoarded in base corruption, a lesson should have been borrowed from Goering...hoard Bordeaux, 1er Grand Cru! :D

Probally because the Times is a crap paper, you are going to get crap writers. Try the Guardian.

I'm just putting some levity in, Thraxed. I once shared a pint with the Times beer writer in Hook Norton...nice guy. I tend to read the Guardian myself. Habit since '84, when I spent hours in the Morrison Reading Room at Cal. Good times.

Hang on. So you are saying that our trusted politicians are stealing our money! Well ive never heard of such a proposterous thing. I can't think of a time where a politician has ever spent money on a rent boy or splashed out on one line too many of cocaine.
