I think most people use the different variations to show the magnitude of how funny something is more than anything else. Like if something is just kindda funny, they do a smiley face or "hehe". If something is really funny, they use "LOL" or "hahaha". If something is tremendously funny, they use "ROFL" or one of the other spin-offs of that.
I think I'd prefer a straight up "ha" over an lol. And "ha" is like reputation. The more ha's in a ha sequence, the funnier something was. Here's a little chart. ha - recognition that someone attempted to make a joke haha - thought it was funny hahaha - got a chuckle/little giggle out of it hahahaha..... - it was honestly hilarious/and might trigger an actual "lol"
haha @ your chart Man I bet you weren't expecting that annoying response from your first thread. Sorry about the lol green rep message by the way. I was just teasing
so a lol comes after 2 sets of haha's ? leaving us with... ha haha hahaha hahahaha lol Lol LOL LMAO ROTF ROTFLMAO ROTF(add bodily function here) damn, it's just not funny anymore
I think we should settle for the "ha"s ok, 1 more suggestion: TWF TWVF TWRF TWSF and double the F's for emphasizing thru adult language
