Ok this is VB3 set up

    Did code :p

    SHOWTHREAD_SHOWPOST and added the $ad_network

Worked so then did printthread and footer templates , but nothing shows

Archive works fine but I am not getting anything in the footer or printthread pages

All I did is add $ad_network to the end of the script on printthread and footer templates

Everything is idiot proof ( ya right - hehe )

Thanks for your time once again

That really should be it... there isn't anything special you need to do. I would tell you to check the php_includestart (or whatever it was called in 3.0.x), but since you see it on SHOWTHREAD_SHOWPOST, php_includestart has to be okay.

I'm not really sure to be honest... if you want to set me up as a superadmin temporarily, I'll look for you.

3.5 is completely different because there is no longer a phpinclude_start template... Check this thread.

Did you enable the plug-in (and is the plug-in system as a whole enabled in options)?
