logopond.com - from PR6 to PR3

In the last 24 hours the PR of logopond.com went down from PR6 to PR3.
This is the consequence of the fact that logopond.com sold 16 x 16 px ads,
    without using no-follow.

These days link and [big amount of] banner sales leads to PR drop. This is a fact.

i think everybody knew this? Thats why it's better to have no more than 10 ads on the site.

    Hopefully...

I would say, no more than 5 banners, if you don't want to add no-follow.

Google is going after "text links" not banner sales.

Nope they are going after "Pagerank" sellers in general, and these banners/buttons pass Pagerank and elevate rankings especially with the Alt & Title attributes attached just as much as text links do.

If Google ignored image links, everyone would just change their text link to images.

I had a PR6 domain that I purchased go from PR6 to PR3 recently. I didn't buy or sell links on the domain/site, though...so I'm hoping it's just a tweak and not a glass PR ceiling...

Totally Agreed with You. But a Pixel site sells more then 1k banner in a single page .. lol so its worth less.

well this is not something new... it happens sometimes when Google sees inappropriate link cropping up for a site... or may be your site is linking to some unethical link farms... I don't think it has anything to do with banner sales... etc... its just a tweak in the ranking...

I can see where Google is coming from though - If you ran your own advertising... and your own trusting system that is known world-wide, wouldn't you personally drop the ranking intentionally of the competition? (Them bastards, hehe)... It's making my Web Directory impossible to jump above PR3 :(

    Yes, this is 100% true.

Those 16 x 16 px banners - without no-follow and with Alt attribute - has S.E.O. value, so in order to not influence the PR of the sites they link to,
Google has to penalize the site that list them.
