Is a logo absolutely required to have for your website? Or can you just settle for text as the "logo" as I see some sites have?
i have a logo for firefox and opera users, all other see text because i use a .png with alpha transparency as logo - ie still cant handle this :/ . background in my header changes with every session (close your browser and visit this site again to see it).
Always use an image logo in the top left of the screen. Always have the image linking to your homepage. The logo can be simple but people expect the logo to be there and will click on it.
I don't think a 'logo' is required. But if you use an image that's just text (e.g your site name), try and make it look nice. And don't forget the alt tags.
The easiest way to make a logo is to visit http://www.cooltext.com/ and enter your site name to their tool. Thats where my mad4 logo came from.
I suggest a logo is must for a website along with title. Logo must contain not more than three colors and the rest of the home page colors must complement the logo colors.
When I see a site without a logo or banner I see made for Adsense. To me it is shows the opposite of the Hallmark Card slogan, I do not care to do my very best.
That is true!...Logos are my favorite...Iam in habit of taking screenshots of logos from sites that I visit. This collection will help me to get some inspiration when I design logos for others.
I dont really use logos, but I defiantely use cool test designs like on www.boardingscene.com Unless you wanna call that zig zag my logo.
Thanks... its been taking forever to get perfect... and that design took like 1 month to create. Definately worth it though...
i think logos are quite important, its like all the big brands have a logo which u can instantly identify them by
We can consider that zig zag beside boardingscene title as logo. It is a symbolic zig zag. Replicating your site theme.
Really depends what kind of website. If it is like a website that will need to attract people i would have a logo. However if its more like a database it really doesnt matter.
a business or a website without a logo is just a shapeless, character-less non-entity and should be avoided at all costs. Oh and it also looks bloody unprofessional. Logos can be either be symbols or wordmarks or better still, a combination of both.
I'd go one further than this and say that a logo is in almost all cases essential. As a former designer for web design agency we used to put the logos together first and then style the pages to suit. A logo can be a good starting block for design and you can get a lot of inspiration from them such as colours, text, icons and effects that will be used throughout the site.
I think it is a matter of creating a catching design. If the contents are just fine and you don't feel the need for a coloful logo, then don't use one.
Logos are a lot nicer..but if you can find some way to make text look nice, go for it. Users like faster loading websites.
