Hello. The DP user: Exa has the URL WiredBox.org is his/her sig on this forum. The logo on the site is: WHOIS for wiredbox.org: ------------------------------------------------- My hosting company, been active for 3 months now has the URL WiredNode.co.uk with the following logo: WHOIS for WiredNode.co.uk My design and URL has been around longer than his, does this look like a copycat or just something that happend without anyone knowing? Please help me. Im not pointing fingers, just worried. If it was a copy, I will issue a DMCA notice. Thanks, Jonthan
Move along and forget it. There is nothing to worry about or to legally complain about. Seems like much ado about nothing.
Do you have the logo/name trademarked? Either way it's probably more trouble than it's worth to get in a legal battle with them unless you have a serious amount of cash on hand.
Well the name 'WiredNode' is copyrighted. But the logo image isnt. Just seemed werid he used the name Wired and the logo design was close. If he uses my site design (made by me) I won't be happy. Till then, you can close this mods Thanks for your help everyone!
You can't copyright a name, you can however trademark it which you may or may not have done. Looking at the logo in it's current form they are different enough that you would have difficulty claiming copyright infringement. In fact if anything they both look like they are derived from youtubes logo.
Its trademarked. Well I think the logo design thing can be left now. I didnt notice that YouTubes logo was like mine. Maybe WiredBox got his idea from there? Arh well.
Hey Jonthan, I just chanced upon this thread, and first things first, I'd like to apologize if this issue has caused you any inconvenience whatsoever. Perhaps the two coincidences brought you to a conclusion that WB's logo was a copy of yours. However, please note that the logo was thrown together in Photoshop, with no knowledge (at all) that similarities existed between both. To prevent further misunderstandings, the logo has been taken down, and I am also in the midst of getting a new logo done. If there are still any issues, please contact me to clarify. Regards, Jayden.
See - always best to get in touch with the person directly first and see if there is a misunderstanding.
Also, is there any way to remove the direct-link to WB's logo in the first post? I'd like to save some bandwidth - Jayden.
Yeah, change the name of the logo image on your web site so that he is just referring to a blank image.
OK look, post #13 already mentioned the logo being taken down, and a new one being drawn up. And the logo in the first post is changed, because THAT is the new logo, and logo.png is the logical file name for any logo. So kadesmith, I don't appreciate that. Be it the new logo or the old logo, direct linking to my image wastes my bandwidth, which is the point of #13 -- to see if anything can be done. Something like hosting the image on a free image host like imageshack would have been better. EDIT: In case this seems like I am actually admitting to having stoled WiredNode's logo, please refer to this post: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=9186284&postcount=11 Since WiredNode has been in the industry for a longer time, I am obliged to clear any misunderstandings that had arise from this. Jonthan has already decided not to pursue this matter (read his above posts), but I have still decided to get a new logo done. I could have left the logo as it is, and save myself the time and money. Jonthan, I don't see why you couldn't have contacted me on this issue first. - Jayden.
Fully agree. It was good of you to change the image, and the original thread starter should have known better than to put up a direct link to the image. Contact a moderator to get this sorted. They are not the quickest in the world!!!
Hello, I'l like to say thanks to Jayden for doing what he did, I know it whould have been best to contact him personaly and I'd like to say sorry for not doing that. I have also requested this thread be closed so it dies away. Therefore your image won't be loaded here anymore. Thank You, Jonathan
