Contest Logo Revamp Contest - 4 days - $$$

I am looking for a revamp of the following logo for a musical:

The winner is the person who can best improve/modernise/revamp this logo so that it looks more professional and more to do with theatre. E.g. maybe some lighting effects etc. Keep the same pinky/purple kind of colour.

I like the font, but I think the red needs to be brighter/ harsher and i'm not sure about the lights only being halfway.

And it doesnt have to look anything like the original, I feel this one tried to update rather than change...

i was thinking actual profile lights either side of the word pointing at the word type thing.

then also im not a fan of the lights half way

 

PLEASE NOTE: I am looking for new and fresh ideas for a logo for the musical 'Cabaret', not just improving the current logo. Entries need to be creative and musical in style like the examples given.
