Logo & Identity Package - $225.00 Description: First off, thanks for reading this 'contest' description. We are launching a new company, e-business identity and web site focused on 'business practices and consulting' in the next 'little while'. For this e-business, and its web site we need an eye-catching logo.and are hoping one of the talented 'artisans' (graphic artists) located here can help by crafting a identity package that includes logo, and business stationary templates (letterhead, newsletter template, business card, fax (mono) and 'with compliments') to use. We are looking for a logo with a symbol or character that is reflective of the services we offer and in tune with the ‘best practice and standards' orientation (focus) we use in the business currently. The business name we have chosen for this re-inventing process is: Trogladite trogladite (old english, slang) related to the following Latin term: Troglodyte Troglodyte may refer to: (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) A member of a primitive race or tribe of cave-dwellers, a caveman. A person who lives in seclusion, a hermit. A person who lives in a slum, a degraded person like the prehistoric or savage cave-dwellers. One of a group of people who built homes into the faces of cliffs, connected by underground passageways, such as in France or Tunisia. Troglodytes (wren), a genus of small bird. The common chimpanzee, Pan troglodytes, an anthropoid ape. Troglodyte (Dungeons & Dragons), a race of humanoid monsters. We settled upon the name "Trogladite" as it is reflective of our belief and strong 'unfilnching' stance for using 'best practices'. We beleive there is a character hidden in us all, and a happy go lucky prehistoric caveman or cavewoman (Trogladite) exists in each member of our team. This contest is the first step in developing a brand that will be recognizable in our target market; we require fresh, professional, eye-catching branding and are open to creative ideas. The new logo will be used for both print and web, and will need to work in a variety of sizes as well, down to a minimum height of about 40 pixels. The tagline does not need to appear on the logo at its smallest size. As detailed in the style section below the icon (chracter) portion of the logo needs to be suitable to the meaning of Trogladite (business), so if you can provide a couple of options here it would help us decide. We will give feedback on entries and frequently as possible, this will be more than likely once every 48 hours at a time suitable to us. Please Note: Feedback will be provided within the original post of the 'contest' under a field entitled: "COMMENTS" - these comments will be arranged by date and in order of submission. Payment will be made upon completion of the contest to the winner after final revisions have been completed. By submitting logos you guarantee all the work is original and your own, and by accepting the prize money all rights to the image transfers to me. Although I do not expect to need to exercise it, I reserve the right to end the contest without a winner if no winning entry can be arrived upon. I look forward to seeing your designs. Not to my knowledge, although I am a member of SP, V7 and other forums. I have used this format previously, completing Contest and had positive feedback on format. You may thinking of a reccently closed contest on another forum for another new unrelated web business identity. Regards BN
Just was having doubt in my mind, so i clearified it, because earlier a member put up a logo contest of 225$ and was banned for having fake contest, So just want to satisfy myself, because it takes a lot time to prepare designs....so wont like it to be turn as waiste.. regards raghav
COMMENTS: (First scheduled feedback report) Well, it appears quite a few skilled DP artisians have had a look at the detailed description and perhaps a number of you are busy creating original artwork for submission in this contest. I would like to talk a little on originality of artwork submitted, a liitle while ago on another forum in which you are able to conduct contests (Brand Package - Logo, business card, and letterhead $225.00). We had the misfortune of having an graphic artist submit work that had been heavily borrowed from a pre-existing theme and they got caught out. I am just going to stress the point: Rights: By submitting a logo to the competition you declare that you are the original author of the artwork submitted. By accepting the prize award, you transfer exclusive copyright for the logo to us, the contest holder. You can use the logo in your portfolio. Thank you in advance, I hope you enjoyed reviewing the first scheduled feedback as much as I did Regards Boss Numbat
I would like to enter, but I often have problems with uploading larger files, and don't want to limit myself and not be able to upload the requested filetypes, but I will look into creating a design if an Amazon Gift Card can be an accepted method of payment since it can be purchased through PayPal in a matter of minutes. I like to work and try to create vector mascots, and I think this is a project where one is due, so I will try to work on something.
Mike, the payment via an Amazon Gift card is acceptable... brilliant idea, if I can say so... although unsure how I can help with your uploading issue, but I do look forward to your submission - thanks in advance for your effort. Regards BN
COMMENTS: (Scheduled review of Submissions) I am thinking that perhaps 'design contests' are not the best to list at Digital Point, over five days and only one submission. Folks, I do not mean to offend, but we listed another design contests elsewhere at the same time (very similar specifications for an unrelated identity) and the response was overwhelming in a matter of 72 hours (3 days). Is there some 'unasked' or 'unanswered' concerns? Are the specifications, not detailed enough? I know I stressed the point about originality of artwork and there was a reason. I have had one private message related to this contest in relation to 'trogladite', whether 'if, any possible examples or artwork exists'. The answer is 'no', I have a cave dweller in mind from the stone age Although, I did find an royaltyfree stock image recently purchased that 'kind of speaks Trogladite (caveman)', this image: Trogladite Speak... Specifically, Trogladite is focused upon "Web Practices", best practices related to ISO (international standards organization), IQS (international quality systems) and Government Acts or Law that are directly related to the Internet and Web. BP's on offer (available) from the likes of EIQA (Excellence Ireland Quality Association), W3C (World-Wide-Web Consortium), DOI (Digital Object Identifier System) and many more are 'what' Trogladite will be focused upon. Please review, as an example: Joint Photographic Experts Group - ISO JPEG homepage - http://www.jpeg.org/. (JPEG - ISO/IEC IS 10918-1) Now, please 'forgive Trogladite for being frank (thats his job/role, since he comes from the Stone Age), and 'Trogladite' IS NOT trying to insult anyone's skills, intelligence or dignity', but answer this: How many 'graphic designer or web developers' do you know create their .jpeg images to that ISO standard? (A.) Not many, Trogladite given to understand. Trogladite is really a 'character/personality' from the stone ages, given the task to ask the hard questions, make points on practices, as well as random cutting and blunt comments; and this personality does not understand "why" for argument sake (point, example), the following... Sir Tim Berners-Lee (Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II), invented the World Wide Web in 1989 while working at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), he and others created (founded, 1994) W3C as an industry consortium dedicated to building consensus around Web technologies. Okay... here is the point. Explain to Trogladite, "Why" majority of Web Developers and Web Designers are yet to become familiar with 'best practices' (recommendations) from the inventors or maintainers of the technologies (www, html, URL/URI, http) they use? Hands up, if anyone has been following the National Federation of the Blind v. Target (Corp) case, in which a Legal precedent has been set for Web Accessibility in the USA. A Federal judge sustained discrimination claims against Target (Corp); the precedent establishes that retailers must make their web sites accessible to the blind under the ADA. I hope this helps explain Trogladite to you further, just remember... Trogladite is from the Stone Age, helped invent the wheel and fire (maybe), works with basic tools, and simply does not understand the over complicated practice of 're-inventing' rather than following recommendations from some of the very founders of the Web and Internet themselves when creating Online presences. Trogladite, simply want to club into submission those who do not care about the pure benefit of using Standards and Best Practice in Web and Internet technologies - Uugggh! I understand that many of Trogladite's comments will perhaps be wrongly interpreted by some users, and I would like to stress that Trogladite intended no offence, the defrosting process, loss of his pet Woolly Mammoth and his fondness for an over consumption of coffee, Pepsi and Coke - leave him, say... 'a bit edgy and overly blunt'. At this stage I am considering 'canceling' this contest, due to lack of submissions, this was my first design contest and an experiment in comparison I guess. The single submission I have received on behalf of Trogladite was not in the overall theme being sought, unfortunately. I would like to 'thank' Michalowski, the creator of the submission sent to me via private message, 'cheers' great effort and originality, unfortunately 'not what we were looking for on Trogladites' behalf', truly appreciated your efforts (thanks again). In relation to my comment of 'canceling this contest', at the time of listing the contest and in my description: Please Note: Feedback will be provided within the original post of the 'contest' under a field entitled: "COMMENTS" - these comments will be arranged by date and in order of submission. At this stage, day six... I can not honestly see the contest being completed within the 'timeframe' I have set with only one submission to review. I will leave this contest as it is for another '48 hours', if I have had no more interest (i.e. submissions, or members stating they are working on contest), then I will contact Admin and publically declare this contest closed and the result unsucessful. Regards BN
i thought that you must reduce the deadline rather then those 48 hrs.. may be reduce the date to 15 th nov..?
Hi all.. I appreciated the comments and the private messages. Several members have indicated that they are working designs to be submitted, look forward to seeing your ideas'. My general rule of thumb is to list design requirements as contests, such as 'Logo & Identity', Web site/page Templates' (two formats, coded or uncoded), 'Banners, Icons, Signatures, and Buttons', 'Other Design' (this may include cartoon styled story boards, modelling, animation, flash, etc). This contest will remain 'open', while those members who have expressed that they are submitting artwork work do so. Regards BN
COMMENTS FOR: TheGuy The submissions you have sent with link to have been initially reviewed and I and Trogladite have completed (pursal), I will contact you via 'pm' with further detailed comments in relation to a number of your submissions. Great works, love some of the font styles - thanks in advance. BN
you should probably keep things simpler i haven't entered this contest because I haven't bothered to read all of your essays above.
