    Tips for good logo is "originality" , just pick a color from baseball dark orange or representing meaning of the word and have big bold text & bold color always cool for baseball, make sure you consider how the logo look in t-shirt, business card and other collateral always consider using flat color ...

    Think you could try a nice simple vectored baseball with the text wrapped around it nicely, simple and original.

    get yourself a magazine - get all the images etc of baseball you can - and start putting them together - baseball/glove/bat/grass/white painted line/pitching mound.
