The Shingle Nation is dedicated to serving the interests of new business startups (solo and small firms or companies) More specifically, it is being developed as a resource for people who: * are looking to start a solo or small partnership business (and "hang a shingle") * have started a business and need marketing ideas * have found great blog or news articles online and would like to help us aggregate them (think digg) * are looking for online and offline talent to help build websites, develop and implement marketing stategies, logos, branding, etc. * are looking to network with other similarly situated people To "Hang a Shingle" is to essentially start a business, though today, the term is not limited to traditional office space or retail space - many home based business owners consider themselves, "shingle hangers." Here are the details of the contest: 1. Logo and Header - $50.00 - Logo itself must be eyecatching, but not too big: 250x80 is a nice size - but we're open to ideas, so don't constrain yourself to those proportions. Header should match and add a bit more flare and will set the theme for the rest of the css. (Make it a full size header - fluid width is great, but not necessary). We happen to love web 2.0 style sites, but don't want it to look too generic. Colors should be eye popping but not obnoxious - blue, green, orange are nice. Header could incorporate photos/silhouettes/animated people as well - bottom line - CREATIVITY WELCOME! 2. Incorporating a shingle type graphic would be nice - in this case, not necessarily a roof shingle, but more of a sign hanging off a horizontal arm (see attached sample - but think much more modern and web 2.0). Of course the example here would be entirely too large for a logo that sits inside of a header. Again, this is just to give you an idea of what a "shingle" is. or Note: I don't consider these examples to be very good logo/headers. They are entirely too basic. I'm looking for something much more creative and eye catching - or at least par for the course for you talented DP graphic artists! Winner shall be paid via paypal within 24 hours of contest ending. Contest ends when final selection is made but no later than 1 week from this post. If a winner is not selected from the first "round", the contest will be reopened. Any other questions, feel free to ask! Thanks! Contest to follow: Drupal and SMF themes - begins when this contest ends!
Hello, this is my first concept. I will need some feedback about the colors and the idea, then i can adapt the design. Thanks.
@Flybylogo Not bad!! As far as the colors go, do not model it after the current colors on the site. Those are just the default drupal colors. Orange, Greens and anything else complimentary would be nice. Thank you for the quick response.
Ok thanks. I will design a completely new concept based on the idea of my first design soon. Thanks for the feedback and merry christmas!
Here's my shot at the Logo (If logo is selected, I will then design a header to your specifications) Feedback Appreciated
@scorpionagency Thanks for your entry. I think I'm looking for something with a little less detail though. Maybe if you could simplify it a bit? See http://www.fontshop.com/fontfeed/archives/the-logos-of-web-20/ for web 2.0 style logos. Again, thanks for your entry!
Revision showing the strip down of the detailed version to a basic version & a 2nd simple concept. Feedback Appreciated
Thanks again Scorpion - I'll give these some consideration. Don't really have any recommendations since I'm waiting to see the other entries. Here's another inspiring sample of logos: http://enthree.com/files/random/web2logos/ Also, startupnation is a big inspiration for the site so I happen to love their logo, but don't want to copy it.
Here's an idea... Take this apple logo, and instead of an apple, throw a "shingle" in it? Actual text probably would look better outside of the box. Again, just an idea...I welcome all creative entries!
@simplyg123 Thanks for the entry - Neat effect with the animation - though I think I want to keep it simpler. Good looking shingle though - maybe a bit more web 2.0 would be nice. also, it should just say "Shingle Nation" or "ShingleNation" or "The Shingle Nation" Not crazy about the earth background - not yet anyways. A bit to global for my rather humble beginnings! Again, great effort, will take this and all other entries into serious consideration.
@simplyg123 Definitely a smoother looking header! I'm inclined to ask you to reduce the height, but don't worry about it for the moment. Thanks! Looking forward to more entries!
Note: I've decided that doing a logo AND header contest is a bit confusing - so I'll limit this to a logo contest - provided the winner will be paid after a header is completed. Hope that's okay - should save you initial time and effort. If anyone needs clarification, please advise.
