If someone buys a logo from me does that mean they own the rights to everything within the image? This is actually a friend of mine who is asking whether they can use a cartoon drawing they produced for someones logo as to whether they are allowed to make cartoons with the drawing or if they legally have to ask the person that bought the logo from them for permission.
When I work with my graphics guy I make sure that they sign a contract indicating that I retain the rights to the whole and individual components of any graphics or images they make me; the same goes for any custom scripts.
