I use Photoshop and Illustrator because those are the two programs I learned how to design with... I've used Fireworks, GIMP and a few others, but non of them seem as sleek and easy to use as Adobe products.
I use a bunch of different graphic design programs, primarily because I like the different effects and I get bored using the same one all the time.
i used to use fireworks, then adobe bought macromedia and so i switched to photoshop.. i havent had much experience with illustrator but from what i can tell its a handy peice of kit of logos
If I'm designing for the web, I usually create the logo in Photoshop at a pretty large size so it can be reduced to any size without losing much quality. If I'm designing for print and the logo may be printed on a surface larger than a computer screen, I design in Illustrator.
Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I am still in the learning curve when it comes to Corel Draw. But I always choose Adobe for designs they are definitely the best of its field.
Photoshop and Illustrator are no brainers. However, I've been using InDesign CS4/5 and I've been getting some good results. They've taken it a long way from the initial idea of a page layout program.
