Thanks blueuniverse! Yeah my favorite 3 of those 5 are A-2, A-3 and A-5. I'm thinking of maybe a hybrid of those three. What about as compared to the older ones (down toward the bottom)? More professional? And BTW thanks solicitors for your contribution as well!
Out of those A-2 is my favourite really because the typeface looks a lot better (might be worth moving web marketing across a few pixels though as it is aligned with the Ephricon writing on the right but not on the left, so either centering it or stretching it would work) and also there are only a few colours which is always very good for a logo. Plus the vector shape is pretty cool.
I do a lot of logo design, so if you decide you want to go professional let me know. stormfrontproductions.net. Not trying to spam....just to help. Take a look at some other logos I have created.
ephricon--- re:a-1 through a-5. the shapes are sending the wrong message. they look like they are floating in space....lost....lifeless....like spaceships that have lost all power in their warp drives. [you get the picture] the point is...they communicate no energy. no interaction. if the cliche omnipresent swoosh or orbit logos says 'new millennium internet interactive high tech corporation'. then your shapes say 'houston...we have a problem'. think about what these shapes are supposed to represent. are they your clients? your company? your ideas? your clients profits? then make them interact or express the "results" of doing business with your company. make them soar or bounce or merge or shine or change or colorize....whatever. maybe one shape is enough...not 3 or 4. that will create focus. express the concept in the logo design. otherwise they are meaningless or worse...the mean something not desired. .
Well i would go for the A-5 ,plus you will have to modify and blend the colof of your full website as it is in the A-5. If you are unable to make a decison try hiring somone to do that, i will recommend http://www.zebonline.com/ .
A1 without the horizontal green line. It's symbolic for 'thinking out of the box' and creativity. A5 looks nice but piramids and sun figures are signs used by bad people so I'd steer away from that. #8 from the old ones but there's something I don;t like about them yet I don;t know what it is... A1 gets my vote.
The old ones: The typeface is a venetian font; very classic, very serious looking, not simply a serif font, which in itself is a heavy sign, but the classicest of the classic serif font. That sends signals that are ok if that's what you want to signal, but it promises a lot, and it's a lot to live up to. The "e" logo clashes with that, but not enough to be a dynamic clash. The easter egg character and the associations to "the thing with the blue e" on most people's desktops, detract even more from its potential. The new ones: I like the fonts in A1 et al. I agree with what has been said about the figures floating in space. In A1 they even float out of their frame, without projecting a clear idea about where they're heading and what they want to do there. Same with the line from the p: it's not really going anywhere, at least not anywhere important enough to legitimize the breaking of the font. The effect of that line in A4 is not clear either: as it now stands, it tells me: "we have this word, and we drew a line under it. Oops, the line hit the bottom of the p". It might be turned into something that would say: "This is standing on firm ground". Or in A5 "This p is breaking new ground". Perhaps this is making too much of it, but you asked for opinions... Where did the Web design part go from the original logo? Is marketing all that's left? Too bad... Personally, I liked the code associations of the <web marketing> part in the first suggestions, which retains a hint of that ("oooh, angle brackets, this guy really knows what goes on behind the scene") even when the message is reduced to "I sell your goods (you pay me)".
Okay so its like a year and a half later and there's finally a new logo!!! Happened upon this thread again. Visit my site to have a look if you like.
