Recep: you're right. Here's the catch though for me: I already run another contest where I paid $60 for the logo plus an extra $20 to ask the two finalists to do some changes. After I ended the contest I realised: "Hmm...very nice logos but what if I tried another angle?" So here's another competition. But, but, but, but: before coming to DP, I also tried 1,2, 3 other designers to come up with a logo and of course I paid each one of them. So my "budget" is shrinking. Now back to providing feedback: Jamess: thanks again for the changes but I actually feel that is a slight step backwards. The font just doesn't have the corporate look I am after. KiaOra: Much, much better. Not quite there but we're definitely getting closer. I still think you can find a more pleasant font. The one you're using is very close to what I am after but it still seems a little too plain or common. The globe looks really good. At the moment I am still mainly considering your design and adaman's one. Thanks for the change coolwanz. Now here's a really tough one: how do you give feedback to coolwanz himself Your design is as always a very pleasant one. However, the more I look at it and even though it's a very nice one (beautiful globe and the way you presented it on that background is also great) the more I realise it's not something I am after. I think what makes me doubt it a bit and I could be wrong here, is the fact the globe is in the middle. That somehow makes me read one word, than pause for a quarter of the second, look at the globe and then read the word direct. Maybe this could be a bonus somehow (pausing for that extra nanosecond to read the logo) and yet I don't think it's working for me. Nick 252: thanks for the entries. Let me make a general observation about your designs: I wanted red but you used some kind of burgundy (or at least this is how it's showing on my screen). I'll now start from the top: 1) Sorry but I don't like it 2 and 3 They are both very great designs. I can't fault any of them, they are very clean and very stylish and also very corporate and professional looking. However, I can't really explain it, but the other two that I am considering the most (KiaOra and Adamant) have some bolder fonts and a more "sporty" look if this makes any sense. The globe looks great too. I am not sure if I am talking personal preference here over suitability. Yours are definitely very great designs.
Nick: thanks for the new entries and for changing to red. The dilemma I have is this: there are a lot of great designs and I must thank everyone who entered. The fact is there can only be one winner, we all know this. SO I don't know how fair it would be to you as a competitor for me to request changes. On one hand if I don't request changes, I cut your chances of winning, and on the other hand if you don't win then you would have wasted extra time. But all this being said I still feel I need to provide feedback: of all these 3 new designs I like #1 the best. I like the newer bolder font, however, I still think that is an average font. But I definitely prefer something bold. I like the font you used for world class proteins. The globe while it looks nice (very nice) it looks a bit without colour. I was after something a little more happy or bright. Thanks for your entry.
Thanks Nick, "protein direct" and "world class proteins" may be made using the same font and yet the proteindirect does not look as good as world class proteins. This could be because of a number of reasons: proteindirect is the principal "focus" and gets analysed more, it's also in upper case, perhaps you placed more space in the other letters or perhaps proteindude is a little twisted which may well be the case Again, your concepts are great and I don't want to waste your time but I just like the other ones better. In all honesty when it comes to your designs, they are very great designs but somehow I don't think you understand what I am after, or what gets my attention.
Wow, this logo is a far cry from the very first one I presented to you. You were right proteindude, the first few were flat.... no depth.
Kia: much, much better no question about it. You and Adamant are still tied up in my mind for the #1 spot with coolwanz new design a close second. I am not sure you understand what I am after. Even if you don't get a chance to do the changes, here is what I wanted in your design: 1) The ONLY major change or request is this: I want no shading at all for the font but only a small emboss or bevel effect (I don't know which one is which as I am no designer). If you go back to the Regency one, you will see the font has no shadows just a slight emboss or bevel effect which adds a lot of class to the overall look. 2) The "smaller" change. I think you placed some kind of background for the font just in the section where it sits on the globe. However, you only done this to the top part of the font not the bottom which makes it look a little out of balance. This is just a suggestion, but perhaps if you did that for the bottom as well or just added some slight white outline just in the part where it is covering the globe 3) I really, really like the globe. Very stylish, very noticeable and very nice shade of red. I love this red as it looks bright and in my opinion looks very energetic. The only thing, I am not sure how hard it would be to do is perhaps if instead of the part with Africa showing we had the two America's. The reason for that is because USA/North America is the world's largest producer of these proteins that I sell Overall, a very great effort and magnificent concept. Nick252: if there was a prize for willingness and perseverance you would be the one to win it. Let me give you feedback on your designs: very pleasant designs but I don't think you grasp what I am after. First of all I wanted something more energetic and red. Your shades are still more towards burgundy (at least on my screen). As far as the font goes, it's still not bold enough for me. They are nice designs and stylish but they still don't match what I am after.
Thank you for the entry Tomeek. A very very cool logo. That is a very nice shade of red and also an original concept with that picture of the globe. Now I noticed you can also take the other aspect of feedback. So here it is: I feel like the text underneath proteindirect is a little close to protein direct and that makes it a little hard to read. Perhaps if you left some more space or perhaps if you wrote that in lower cases or perhaps if you used a different font. I really don't know but I feel it's just a little too close and a little hard to read. The other thing is the words proteindirect seem to be one word and maybe if you just distanced them a little or perhaps if you added some small twist or something to the D in direct. And lastly, I am not sure if this is suitable or whether it would change the design all together, but I really loved the effect you used in the banner for s dx forum. Do you think that would work ok in red or is that a totally different design? That was a really cool entry you had there. And the very last point, I just realised that Tomeek is also one of the "big guns" I was referring to earlier. I had a look at some of your other entries and definitely you fit in my classification of big guns or heavy weights. Too manyy "accidents" to be just a coincidence.
