    Hi guys,

I am creating a contest for a logo to my new website called: SpeedYourReading.com

The website will be promoting a speed reading course for students who would like to increase their reading speed and improve memory retention by using mindmaping tools.

The logo should be web2.0ish, simple, elegant, fresh and of course professional.

Since the website is about speed reading elements may include the following: book(s), student(s), clock, clock arms, mind map(s) and so on. PLEASE please DON'T limit your creativity as per the elements. You can try different things that may eventually surprise me.

Colors have to be fresh e.g. blueish, orangeish, greenish and so on (in other words web2.0. style).

I will provide my comments to every single proposal.

The winner for the contest will get $25 straight to PayPal. IF I like more than one proposal I will offer to the owner(s) $15 as a runner-up prize.

After the payment is made you will send me all the working files (PSDs and/or vector).

The contest will close July 3, 2008 midnight E.T.

If you have any questions, let me know here.

Look forward to your entry. Good luck.

anidesign, a nice try for the first shooter ;)

there is definitely something interesting about your design with combination of colors. although I mentioned the book I think it looks a bit mediocre in my view.

can you try some other elements with indication of the 'increase', 'improve', 'reading speed' and/or a 'mind map'

also in your next revisions please avoid the black background ... not crazy about it. just makes the design look heavy.

thanks and look forward to your following shots.

cottonStella, thanks for your entry. I think this design looks a bit 'amateur' ... no offence. Also looks a bit cartoonish. This is definitely not in line what I asked for. the reflection part does not work either.

I hope my feedback helps and encourages you to give another try with a totally different approach.

    look forward to it.

rockinway, for the first attempt is good. but not sure about the font and colors. Overall, not fond of the grey look.

but i do like the fact that you used .com above ... definitely something that you and other designers should consider when submitting (re)-entries.

also, i know i asked for web2.0. effect which is probably why you used that reflection effect. but quite honestly i am not sure if i am liking it in that context.

please try different colors and font without the grey theme and i think it should do a better job. but still need to see before i can conclude. thanks again.

anidesign, interesting submission with an arrow ... i like the idea though not sure about that particular curved arrow. could you try something with an arrow but in a horizontal or ascending position or and give some fade-away effect for that arrow. i don't know where to place it though ... but if you try it i will surely comment.

Can you also try incorporate .com somewhere? see if it looks any more enticing.

Skullborg - sorry, but i see no originality in your submission. the font is not something i am looking for, no elements in particular. the combination of colors is not working for me. please see my comments to other guys' design ... where they hit it on the head with the things you missed out on, and i'm sure you could give it another try. thanks

dimitri123 - thanks for the submission. the combination of colors is almost excelent .. maybe the orange can be made more 'live'. i also like the two elements you came up with: S-arrowed and the O-clocked - awesome job. However these particular books do not work in my and also i am not sure about the font ... looks very tight and rigid to me. also if you could add .com onto the last part of the 'reading' word ... that would be better. please see what happens when you make the changes above. thanks.

dezine_gen - look forward to your design.

hanidesigns - as above the combination of colors is very nice ... very soft and nice to look at. like the '.com' idea but the dot can be moved to the left a bit so that it becomes part of the 'i'. the head element looks interesting but not 100% convinced ...also can you play with other fonts in your library, not sure about the one you used. understand me right, it looks ok but not entirely what i am looking after. thanks.
