Logo animation

What's a good application for animating a logo?

I want to add some sort of animation affect to my logo, and use it as an intro screen for videos.

Also, to pull off the animation, do you just do a frame by frame snapshot and then piece the frames together to get the final animation effect?

    TIA

Most of the people use Flash to animate anything, but there are a lot of software which you can use to animate logo or other things.

If you want to animate Logo for Video and then best software will be After Effects.

    Thanks

After Effects is very good as mentioned above

Is this a logo you have rendered in something like 3D Max?

I use a combination of Silverscreen, Artlantis renderer, PSP Animation shop and even import the finished animated gif into Flash to add more "life" for very little file size growth.

I use Alchemy Mindworks Gif Construction Set Professional for animating, still use PSP Animation shop once in awhile.

You could turn those vector graphics into pngs which will stay crisp and clean, number each file (frame). The wizard in the software will put the frames together, you can select loop, delay, etc.

Alchemy Mindworks is not a freeware but I believe you can download the software and try it for a period of time. What I like about the software the animation is still crisp and clean afterwards.

I don't mind paying for software, it's more so the learning curve that intimidates me.

With the alchemy mindworks, the output is good enough for a video intro screen?

I honestly can't say how well it will be for a video intro screen, I am going to supply the link, if you scroll down the page it will tell you the capabilities. What I can tell you is when it takes several png files (frames) and turns those files into a gif, the graphic is still crisp and clean, no corruption.

My thoughts were maybe to try this without buying and see if this will work for you before spending a lot of money on something else.

You can actually use Photoshop, I just found out. It only makes the GIF type animations but they look ok.

    It depends on your skills.
The easiest program to use is: Xara3D or even photoshop (to create a moving gif)
for a video, i will not use the top 2 apps, but i will use these ones:

level 2 programs are: adobe Flash or adobe after effects - requires more skills.

level 3 programs are: 3DMax, Maya, Soft Image - but you will need to learn how to work on those 3D environment apps.

Regarding Flash beginner levels, i will suggest to download the flash program, and start the intro lessons on kirupa.com: kirupa.com/developer/flash/index.htm

I opted for the easiest approach. Get someone else who knows what they are doing to do it for you. :)

I did look at some of the demos for After Effects. Went completely over my comfort zone right now.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

As you said you have it in vector, i would suggest flash, although I believe Adobe After Effects allows vector format too.

If you want a simple animation, Photoshop can create it pretty well for GIF animations.
