Logitech wants me to smash my keyboard with a hammer

I bought an UltraX keyboard recently and wasn't happy with the backspace key, it was making strange noises and it was hard to press when pressing from different angles, so I sent the keyboard to the point of purchase and they were kind enough to replace it for me, but when I got the second one, the backspace was the same! I wasn't that worried about it at the time, but later on it became really frustrating! There were times when I needed to write something fast and right then the backspace would have failed me. So I decided to write to Logitech support staff. Now the guy was very kind and after a few email swaps he agreed that he should send me a replacement, but not the same one since it is an OEM model. He gave me a few models within that price range to choose from and so I chose the Ultra Flat model since it is closer by design. Now a few days ago the guy informed me that he will send my new keyboard, but right after I receive it, I should hammer smash my old, defective one and send him the pictures of that piece of art. What do you guys think about it? Is he joking? Should I do it? Since the keyboard is in perfect shape except for that backspace key which shouldn't mind to a little kid for example, maybe I should try saving it by suggesting that I should give it for charity? Or wouldn't it be fun making a video about smashing a logitech keyboard and then uploading it at youtoube? :)

I would definitely make a video about it, I have 10 days to come up with a nice scenario :) But what do you think would happen if I don't do it? :)
Not that I won't of course, but I'm just curious :)

Do it, and build a website around it.

    www.angrynerd.com or something.

You can build an entire website about you smashing different things in creative ways.

    There's a niche for ya.

There is nothing there on that page, just an empty root folder ..nothing angry there :)

Nice idea, I do get the point, but how do you think it will monetize and how long would it take? I mean I will need to buy other things to crush which still is an investment :)

Well, monetizing shouldnt be a problem. Same old, same old Google ads.

As for smashing things, you can buy monitors and things at garage sales for next to nothing.

Picture it, a video of you smashing one of those old Tube TVs. They'd cost $15-$20, but what a fun video to watch.

The hrd part is the creative smashing :p

Well actually, I do own many old and not working monitors, pc parts like: motherboards, PSU's, Graphic Cards, Hard Disks... and I was just recently thinking about dumping all of that! Thanks for the idea, watch out for the angry pc technician part one :)

Maybe it can hurt, what if I get hit by a key in my eye? Maybe I can monetize by suing Logitech?
Then buy a whole bunch of Logitech products with the money and smash everything :)

Here is a quote of the support guy:

It will be funny when the same video gets sent to Logitech when other people "replace" their defective keyboards. Maybe you could sell rights to the video! :)

BTW, if the Logitech keyboard doesn't work out, I recommend the MS Intellitype Pro. No sticky keys and every button imaginable to keep you shortcut-crazy-people happy! I do love my Logitch MX 400 mouse, tho!

Its because they think it would hurt their brand name. thats if you give someone else the defective keyword and that person would think Logitech sux.

I currently have a broken logitech laser mouse. I think i'll use the warrany instead of smashing it though.
