Well it happened to me again Locked out of another cheap webhost.
This Time not because of traffic. Because Of I Dont Know Why?
Its been over a month now since I had access to my WHM I Beleive I have 6-7 websites left on this host. not sure. Its A CPANEL WHM Where I even had sites hosted for friends as it is reseller hosting. First the harddrive went down I can UNDERSTAND sometimes problems occur. But while being fixed ,The owner said he sold the hosting site to someone else. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO LOGIN AGAIN.Not to my cpanels or my WHM Site. i have filled out countless support tickets at least 7-8 No answer never.
I Have emailed them countless times , The emails come back undeliverable.
I Cannot login because none of my passwords work anylonger, Although the hosting is now back up. Most of the sites I had hosted there show error pages only.
I Paid the hosting untill october 2010 my auto responder lives there so no access to my friends and customers, This Sucks and makes me look foolish to people I WORKED HARD TO EARN RESPECT FROM.The hosting I was offering other people? Those people now hate me for ruining thier sites.(they are too locked out)What To Do?:(

If your reputation and respect from other people are on the line why on earth are you choosing cheap hosting? Didn't you learn your lesson the first time? Haven't you learned to keep backups from the last time this happened? Why should your customers respect you when you keep making the same mistakes by choosing cheap hosting? You're the one who chose the cheap hosting for their web sites and they have every right to dislike you. Your poor decision-making is causing them to suffer. The $5 or $10 or $20, or $50 you save each month from a cheap host simply isn't worth saving when your business and reputation are on the line.

Sorry to sound so harsh because your situation isn't a nice one to be in, but I hope you learn your lesson this time. Get a decent budget together and choose a proper host and make sure your hosting plan is suitable for what you want to do. If you're driven by the cheapest price, or always chasing a better deal when it comes to hosting, you'll never - ever ever ever - get it right.

I have to agree with the above. why on earth would you be using fly by night hosting companies for your lively hood? How much cheaper can hosting get that you have to go even cheaper and risk loosing your income?

AND you paid for months in advanced?
I don't get it. It doesn't even sound like an issue of money. So why would you do that to yourself?

I feel for you, but I don't feel sorry for you because you sound experienced enough to know better, yet choose not to go with a reputable company.
Reliable hosting is THE most important thing to your lively hood if you work online. Nothing else is more important.

And it's what you choose to skimp on? C'mon dude, you don't sound like a noob. What gives?

I've experimented with small time web hosts, some decent, for like $15-20 a year. I've seen service go down regularly. I keep regular backups and they are for nothing but inbound links and other peripheral sites.

When I first bought the hosting the guy was a regular here at DP so I figured what the heck give it a try, and after I had it a while, I sstarted parking sites there, kinda like storage, Everything working good till he sold it, Then things fell apart . And you all are correct no body to blame but myself. Maybe this will help others, To steer clear of Bargains, You Will end up loosing.

There are some good people here on DP, but everyone and their mother at one point was a hosting reseller. Anyone can do it. Word to the wise in the future, go to the source. Nothing against hosting resellers, but why would an experienced web master go through a 3rd party when he can just host at the source with a major company?

Take a look around and see how many hosting resellers there are around here. Dime a dozen.
I'm sure if you only have 1 blog and your buddy is a hosting reseller then you will probably not loose much and be OK, but you would have to hold me down a gun point to get me to move all of my sites to a 3rd party reseller.,,or any site that makes even a little bit of money.

Host with the people that actually own the equipment, not the people that are renting space.

Another thing, not that I like wasting money, but all of these cheap plans for $20 a year and such are a red flag to me. Decent hosting costs more than that.

The whois shows the host is less than three months old. The hosting was being offered 3 days after the domain was created. The owner was showing reviews dated before the domain was created. Never go with a host that hasn't been up and running for years.

..and this is probably biased and unfair, but I don't trust spending money on anything where the owner has only invested $1 for the domain. .info's are cheap or free, and people use them as throw away domains to hit it and run.

Any experienced webmaster that was serious about his business knows this and would never create a legitimate business on a .info Too much bad association with scams and spam.

That's good advice. When it comes down to it that aren't THAT many real hosting" companies (let's say companies with more than 50 servers). When you compare the real companies to the number of resellers it's just a tiny proportion. I am slightly biased since I work for a hosting company, but properly set-up hosting with redundancy, good uptime, fast servers, and good networks doesn't come at bottom-dollar prices.

couold not agree more - We started as a reseller but quiclky found out that the only safe way was to get our own server.

I Agree $20 a year is too low. We did some serious number crunching before we set up 5 years ago and found that it is impossible to go below $2.99/month or $30 with a discount for paying yearly. So prices should not be a red flag as long as they are not under $2.95/month

First sorry to hear, but if he has sold his company then not sure why he did not informed you. Not a good business practice at all.

Woah! Easy there. Plenty of reputable companies and websites run on Wordpress, including CNN, WSJ, New York Times, CNET, Reuters, Yahoo, and NASA. Learn
YOU even use Wordpress on the site in your sig...on a free theme. are you saying that your own site is not reputable?

I'd say the .99 cent .info was more of a red flag than anything.

I did contact him more than once afterall he is the one i purchased from. he said his buddy that bought the hosting will not answer his emails either hmm..
I Dont know any more I have moved on, Alot wiser. None of it makes sinse. and the reason I prepaid to answer another question
was to get the best price, or it would not have been such a good deal, Dont tell me nobody else pays their hosting 6 months at a time. I dont think its that unusual to pay 6 months advance to get better rates. thats all im saying about this, other than still no contact from host. the end
