    Hi.I'm just wondering !?!?

I have a website which is hosted by a romanian company. The server is in Romania.

My question is : if my website was hosted on a server in USA, my SERPs in Google will be more effective ?

PS : My website is targeted for USA & Canada customers only.

    Thanks in avdance.

I am not sure whether that will make much difference in terms of SERP directly, but it can surely slow down your site for your visitors (USA & Canada) and this thing itself can hurt your ranking.

Today , I've requested my host company to move my website in their datacenter in USA.

Hope this will not affect backlinks, and Google indexing ... :)

Server IP partially determines which country's SERPS will increase...cause if hosted on Indian servers, google partially accepts that its an indian site and gives priority for indian SERPS.

USA hosting is very cheap compared to most other countries, so its better to use it

From my experience google does not consider host location in any significant way. MSN does.

I live in the UK so hosting in the US is alot cheaper.

I live in Pakistan and hosted all of my sites in US, i don't think it will make any effect in SEPRs, Google will simply check your site and check if it can be crawled... It does not deal with locations.

I think what he stressed is if the local serps would matter because of server location...

I'd suggest him to use US based hosting.

It affects but not much . If you check on Regional Google domains like google.co.uk , google.co.au then definatel SERP differs a lot.

i was hosted 9 years in USA and moved a few months ago back to central Europe ( DE )
no changes in serps at all
sudden increase in traffic by 30% the very day I activated my EU server
reason - US servers apparently are more likely censured by the 40 or so countries that do filter www content
while EU servers apparently have less or no filters applied. the increase in traffic came from all over the globe

since the HW quality of my current root server is far above average US quality while being in the very same price range
all I regret is to have waited so many years before moving to EU.
