well, it's maybe true. as far as i know, at least at this moment google chinese does not punish duplicated content. SEO will be much easier
it's the same algo, just that google tries to display local results for you. Like if you're in Iran you might see "slightly" different results on google.com than if you're in US..
Its the same algorithm, although some results really really differ because Google wants to show you stuff you can easily access, such as sites owned by local people etc. For example a search for Spirituality for my site in the Indian version gets it on #20 but however on the Google.com version its at around #140 IT
also the datacenter matters. even being in the same eplace all the time you migth get different results due to hitting a different datacenter
Same goes for yahoo and I found out it has everything to do with where your links come from. At least for Yahoo. I recently started getting links from Australia and New Zealand and I ended up at a number one position in yahoo australia where I was 34. Right now I end up on spot 5 for my own counry and 22 for yahoo. com Quality backlinks not only from good sites but also geographical. Not just links...targeted links. Keep this in mind and save yourself tons of time.
Here are my experiences over the last few months with Geotaregetting ( Im based in Ireland ) when ranking for "Pages from Ireland..." Google: You need to be .ie ( Irish TLD ) or have a server hosted in Ireland or an ISP whos IP is "allocated" to Ireland... And obviously if you are hosted in the same country as your TLD.. then Wa-Hoo! Yahoo You need to be hosted in Ireland.. a TLD doesnt seem to cut it.. I noticed same behaviour for a client with .co.uk but hosted in Germany. And obviously if you are hosted in the same country as your TLD.. then Wa-Hoo! ( repeated for effect!) MSN Bill and his buddys seem to have a law unto themselves and cant see if they have a Geotarget algo or not... Some great information here too: http://www.webconfs.com/country-specific-search-engines-article-7.php And I can see that backlinks from domains within your TLD/Country range is an obvious benifit.... HTH Cheers!
ok, so off-page SEO (mainly link exchange) for local Google should be different then. It's better to get backlinks from the local web hosted sites right? For example, if you want to target UK Google, you want sites that are hosted in UK IP to link to you. So how about local backlinks vs. quality links from anywhere else? Better to get backlinks from local IPs? or quaitly links such as .edu and others weigh better??
