I found out today that our local cable company is having a hard time selling commercials. They are offering to make a custom spot for $500.00 and are selling spots for only one dollar each with no min order. The spots are rotated randomly by a computer. Has anyone used cable to promote their site and what kind of return did you get. Our site was featured by PC Mike on NBC and we had a big jump but it did not last. if you had good success please let me know how you promoted your site. Did you offer some type of promotion or was the spot just informational. Thanks for your insight.
If you can get a decent time slot, preferably in primetime that's a great deal. $500 to make a custom commercial seems a tad steep, if you have video editing abilities I would just do it yourself. At $1 you don't have much to lose, buy 20 or so and see how it works.
Really depends on how large of a market. For $1 a piece I don't think you can lose at all. If it is relevant throw down $100 and see what happens with your traffic. Would be great if it were a relevant site so that it could really help with branding as well.
