Hello, I'm wandering if anybody know, if any method exists to place business in local business listings on first page of Goggle results. I realised that recently Google changed number of website listings. Before it was three and now its ten. Anybody knows how Google determine which website goes to first 10 and which is not. Is there are any optimization available for that? I appreciate you response. Thank you,
I just found that one of my clients is #1 in our local results for a popular term. I didn't do it and she didn't do it so............ Also I noticed that most of the other results were totally irrelevant to the term. Maybe this is something experimental????
I found this about Local Business Listings via sphinn.com which might be some help http://blumenthals.com/blog/2008/02/03/google-maps-category-mystery-part-i-the-problem/ (as you can see it's a 3-part article) - the irrelevancy issue seems to be a common complaint.
No one really knows the answer to this (that's not true, the developers as Google do) - anyway... it seems to pick an area - 'web design Essex' brings up a cluster of companies in the same town... very useful - apparently the rest of Essex doesn't exist, not that I am sore. I bit of speculation I have heard and subscribe to is that ratings of the business help you rank higher.
