Hi, I am a bit confused with my position in the search results. I have a .com site which is targeting customers all over the world with pricing of my products in different currencies. The company is based in New Zealand and the products a shipped worldwide. Searching at www.google.co.nz for my main keyword with “the web†ticked, my site is showing up on position #1 out of 2.5 million listings for several years now. Going to www.google.com my ranking varies between positions 5-15 out of 1.8 million listings with the same sites on google.co.nz surrounding me. I know that Google has some problems right now but this variation shows for over a year now before what time I used to rank #1 on google.com as well. I simply do not understand why there is such a variation. I was reading about localisation on this forum, but again my site is surrounded by US companies on google.co.nz with only one exception and the product itself is not a typical New Zealand product. The first page of the search result showing basically the same sites on google.com and google.co.nz but slightly shuffled around. Is this normal and if yes, what’s the idea behind this? Thanks for you time guys!
I have no idea, but I have the same problem in reverse. My small business is in the US. I rank quite highly for many keywords and phrases in google, but only in foreign countries. It's a crazy world man...
Google doesn’t make any sense to me anymore! I get the feeling Google is battling me all the time rather that working together – very frustrating.
My site used to be hosted on a server in the USA with the same result as per my first post. I only moved it to a server here in New Zealand about 2 month ago.
