Ok Members, You know how for the most part we all like sea food, well this am still thinking about my last night event cooking live lobsters. kinda like Charles Manson Meets Chef Gordon ramsay. bad enough they were moving around in the refrigerator for 3 hours. So i take them out moving a bit till i chop the first tail off was like a chicken running around with no head. So bad not sure how i even kept my appetite. There a way one should chop them up so they dont suffer?? Think i will not be eating Crustacean's for a year.
I had read about the nervous systems of lobsters, from what I know there isn't really anyway to kill a lobster without it suffering compared to a crab, where you can just cut of the central nervous system and it is theoretically dead. I think the best way is to immerse it in icy water so that it is in hibernation stage before chopping it. But this is just a guess. Any cooks around here?
Yeah, wisdomtool is right - you need to freeze the lobster for a couple of hours before plunging it directly into boiling water for 5 minutes or so (no longer). Next time pop them in the freezer instead of the fridge.
