I'd never lend that kind of money to friends. What happens if he doesn't pay you back? Are you willing to lose a friendship over that? The max I'd probably do is $100 if they are a close friend.
Well.. If you trust him, then send him all the money in one go. or you can always send in installments to keep track.
Don't loan your freind more than you can write off. It may be cheaper to tell him you will give him a $1000 rather than make a loan.
I don't lend money to friends.. it can ruin a friendship and change the relationship (either the friend feels like he owes you, or he takes the money and doesn't pay it back and then you get angry at them) if for some reason you do want to lend money to friends or family then act like they're total strangers - have them sign a contract and specify how and when it must be paid back if you want to give money to help your friend then that's nice of you - and better than lending however first check if it will really help your friend and get him completely out of troubles ! if his business is indeed so bad, a loan now may not be the solution but only delay the inevitable.. if he will go bankrupt anyway, it may be better for him to do it early (and give him money afterwards so he can start up something new) instead of throwing it now into a hole..
From what i've learned, money change friend relations... My dads best friend since they were 16 years old tried to scam my father with over 200,000$ in a restaurant business they put up together. I wouldnt recommend to Trust Him. If the bank doesnt wanna lend him money it means something...
Depends on how good friends we are really. If it's my best friend I'll loan him the money without interest and it's ok for me even if it takes a year for him to repay me.
