@tattos - Hmm..that's intersting and I just checked too..perhaps they all use the same "shop script" ..maybe there's a super domain-host who owns all these really big companies like GoDaddy, WildWest and SecurePayNet Woah..one single company thatowns all the domains, crazy thought but possible?
GoDaddy is the Parent I think. Whois of securepaynet Whois Record Registrant: Wild West Domains, Inc. Hmm Wild West owns 2/3 big players (including itself) so wouldn't you say they had the lion's share in this little ordeal of who's boss
yourdomain.com got 3660 .edu links and 5 .gov link pointing to it among the 120K links poniting to it. No wonder it is a PR7.
Hmm.. what do others think? Come on people! every time I look at the thread there's atleast 10 members viewing it and only 25 replies.. anyways - 3600 .edu links??? no wonder...sheshh..
I wish that I owned mysite.com , example.com, and yourdomain.com. WHY< Because i own a website hosting company and i would love to have the traffic from those sites coming over to mine. Sales would be incredible maybe? ~ Mike
www.example.com deserves to be PR7 because: 1. all academics and web specialists use it to refer to a website 2. it has no ads or anything, it respects the purpose for which it is used
No, not at all... securepaynet is a reseller of wildwestdomains... Wildwestdomains is owned by Godaddy. https://www.godaddy.com/GDSHOP/reseller/free_extras.asp?app_hdr=0&ci=6615 http://209.85.173.132/search?q=cach...y+site:WILDWESTDOMAINS.COM&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=3 Godaddy is the parent. I totally agree. Cheers James
I Think godady first had the reseller of Wildwestdomains when it became big it became a registrar by itself but still the other services like hosting and stuff belong to Wildwestdomains
"The Go Daddy Group of companies also includes Wild West Domains, Inc., a reseller of domains and domain-related products and services; Domains by Proxy, a private registration service; Starfield Technologies, a research and development affiliate; and Blue Razor Domains, a membership-based discount registrar." http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/about.asp?ci=9079 Cheers James
Cool, but YourDomain.Com is a custom name in books about PHP, HTML etc. I have 6 books about these languages, and 5 of them use YourDomain.com as 'example' For people who are curious... the sixth book uses example.com as name to explain everything! Greetz
Your saying the 6th book starts using example.com? I would not be surprised, ALOT of old documentation uses domains like "yourdomain.com", but now new documentation writers/developers are becoming aware of example.com. I am noticing more readme.txt files and doc using example.com now, so its better to link to example.com becuase that site is meant for it and no one is profiting off of it if they visit it. So remember when you write an example domain in some tutorial or documentation use example.com .
