Seems a year or so everyone here was pushing LMA sites (Link Management Assistant) for directories. Now it appears everyone is on the PHPLD bandwagon. I've done a few LMA sites in my time but not PHPLD. I will be doing a PHPLD site soon, but I'm wondering if anyone has done both? And if so, the pros of each (or the cons of each). Or which do you like better and why?
Sorry for my ignorance, but when did LMA get popular? Never heard of it before. There's quite a following for phplinkd here, with the developer always around here alot.
No problem. Do a quick search for "LMA" (didn't try "Link Management Assistant", that might give you more), you'll see most posts are 6 months+ old. Although doesn't seem nearly as popular as PHPLD. Having a developer around makes quite a difference. That is probably why no one uses LMA anymore. It's very difficult to feel that suggestions are being heard by the developer.
LMA is very good for link management, but phpld was made for serving directories. if you are looking to build directory then go for phpld. But if you want to manage links for your site then you can also go for reciprocal manager 3.3 rather than LMA. Rm 3.3 is nice script.
Never heard of LMA, but then again, I've only been doing phpLD for about 5 weeks getting in the 'know' of it, and about 2 weeks of dev time now.
new to phpld too, but found it to be really good...also i found easy to change some of it's features to suite my needs. It work good, with few to no bugs, and does almost everything you will need it to do...
I've got both. One site using PHPLD as a link exchange & in the other its a full blown directory. The version of LMA I've got doesnt support paid links. PHPLD does. Got a pleasant surprise the other day when someone paid for a oneway link on my PHPLD link directory - I'd just happened to setup the one ways as paid. The other key difference is control. With LMA they dynamically allocate links which are placed at the bottom of your directory. In my case broken links were placed on one page. With PHPLD there is only one static link you need (& you can pay to have that removed) Regards Brian
