Living outside US & want to open US bank account for my affiliate cheques

    Anyone have any advice.
I am getting a reasonable amount of cheques in the mail. 4+ weeks to get here, another 4+ weeks to cash, minus MASSSSIVE fees. Cheques seem sooo antiquated in the digital age. I wish they would pay online. Some of these sites are adult and only offer cheques.

Im really at a loss, at how much money im losing to this !! GRRRR

    any wise words are appreciated.

If I'm not wrong, you can open a local US$ bank. Opening a US bank account from overseas will require one of the following:
    1) Giving US a visit personally
    2) At least $10,000 deposit
    3) High monthly cost
If you can do at least on of the above, then I dont think its worth the hassle.

Did you ever live in the U.S.? If so and you have a SSN then there are some banks with online-only accounts you can open over the internet without ever having to appear in person at the bank.

If no SSN and no previous U.S. residential address then I think it's impossible.

    it look bleek huh! :(

out of interest what kind of fees do you guys pay ?

changing banks here wont make a difference. You gotta realize we are about 7 years behind the world in terms of technology etc..
we dont even have decent broadband, and the bank tellers look at you funny when you come in with a bag of checks, like "can i help u sir" lol

$10-15 AUD depending on the bank. If the minimum payout threshold isn't too low, it's not too bad.

You may want to try etrade.com

I know someone who isn't a US citizen and who opened an etrade.com account and deposits his money from PayPal to etrade.

Note: etrade.com is not a bank. You can't open a checking or savings account with them. But there is nothing to stop you from opening a brokerage account with them and using it as your bank account.

Do your own due diligence before you open the account. I myself have no personal experience with etrade.

If you want to establish a permanent presence in the USA you need to get yourself with a Delaware Corporation and setup with a bank account as well together with atm card.
The address below I have never dealt with but they seem to have a lot of testimonials for their service. They will front up to the bank in person to open your bank account - all bankers must see someone in person to open an account. They do this by a 'nominee' director of your corporation and once he has done the biz he resigns from the company. Check it out, let us know how you get on.

I wonder whether it's better to open an account there in US, or maybe in Swiss (if you're not either US Citizen either Swiss). I prefer good rates so probably Swiss banks would be better solution?

Or do US have some banks for non-US citizens with good rates too?
