Did anyone see the magnicificent performance from Liverpool FC last night. Did they have Michael Owen? no! Did they have Steven Gerrard? no! Did they have djibrill Cisse? no! Did they even play Alonso? not until the 90th minute.

They have given themselves a huge chance of making it into the next round with that great win over Deportivo in Spain. If they make it further I might have to try and get some tickets to one of their big games. :)

Man U had a pretty good game too. After Fergy was slagging his strike force Ruud gets 4 in the 1 game. lol

I didn't see the games but just saw the scorelines ... although Derpotivo is no doing so well in La Liga, a win against Spanish opposision in SPAIN is never easy, so well done to POOL.

Man U is going through Menopause (hot & cold :D) .. if they go far in the Champs League Fergie might survive another season .. I dont see them getting the league and the FA Cup might not be enough this season ... and it will be bye bye Fergie.

Aye, I think he is past it anyway. Martin Oneil will be the next one to get the Man U job. Will probably do pretty well with them as well... much to my disgust.

Nah, missed it. So what's changed in the Liverpool set-up then? You changed your tactics? I heard that this "zone-marking" system was playing havoc with your earlier games, that gone out the window?

Good to know you did well without your "star players" - that's the way it should be. I personally reckon that a lot of these players get good, get rich, get complacent. Why bother working hard when you earn 2 years wages (of mine anyway) in just one week regardless of whether you play or not??? Owen ate too many pies, played too much golf and had too much faith in his own ability the complacent little git.

Mutu, of Chelsea was on 70K a week. At that rate I could retire in less than 3 months

I like old-school managers like Fergie who shout at their players. I wouldn't take any gob off a cr4p manager but have the utmost respect for those that have insight, quality, experience and get results. It's funny when prima donnas like Beckham get all upset and run away and sulk. Sod 'em, better off without 'em :D

    lol

That's too true! I think some of these clubs need to start giving players lessons on professionalism. Show them that if they don't play well they'll be out the door. I reckon one way to do it would be to only give them their wages if they play. That way they will behave better and not become complacent. ;)

    Did they score? No! :D

i didn't watch the entire game but most poeple opinion was that it was down to a fair bit of l-u-c-k.

Still good though! The more British teams in the end stages the better.

LOL That's just the ticket - 100% incentivised football
    • you play, you get paid
    • got a bit of a cold?, buy your own lucozade you big puff
    • score a goal, get a bonus
    • score an own goal - you have to drive the Lada for a week
These footballers have it far too easy, give 'em a taste of reality again :D

<edit>PS - and talking of Ladas, they were based on the old Fiat 124 or whatever it was just like the one in this vid ;)</edit>

I watched MU game and it was worth it. I must say Premiership is getting very competitve. Even clubs like Bolton and Midlesborough hire brand players...

I have indeed. When I first heard about the incident, it sickened me. £14 million for a broken leg!! Liverpool have been linked with Morientes and David Villa as a replacement. It would be great to see Morientes at Anfield :D

I have heard a lot of Liverpool supports hinting at Morientes, but I doubt if Madrid will release him again after what he did last time when he was on loan at Monaco.

Isn't the next transfer window also in Jan, which by then Pool could have kissed goodbye the League, FA Cup and possibly even the Champs League gauranteed spot.

Funny I haven't seen any Man U supporters in this thread

Nah they are keeping quiet because of their recent form in the league :)

I would like to see this fellow David Villa coming. I reckon he'd be cheaper and he is still young which means there is room for improvement although I think Liverpool have a lot of young players at the moment which would mean that an older player may be of benefit to the younger players

I loved the compilation of Henry's shite performance, yesterday on Match Of The Day 2,. He is pretty poor at times. And Viera, what a wanker! Falls over because the guy didn't touch him at all! And those two are supposed to be their top players...

Did you see Google news headlines today? Beckham to Arsenal. Sounds like BS to me.

Yeah, Viera was extremely lucky not to have been sent off. And Henri - well you can't be good all the time, so we'll put that down as one of his 'off' days.

Glad Liverpool won though, nice to let someone else have a shot for the top slot. That is until we get bored of Chelsea's winning streak and then start on them.

Beckham to Arsenal... hmmm, he was linked with Chelsea a while back too...

Mind you, El Hadj Diouf has been spitting yet again - that's SO low. They should bring back "the stocks" for that sort of behaviour - I'd happily chuck rotten fruit at tosspots like that :D

Frenchmen should be banned from British football in the first place :D

Will they give the 2 weeks wages to charity or just keep it?

A good way to make him realize it's disgusting is to get all the tramps of the UK together after a few White Stars or whatever the cheap beer shite is called; refrain them from toothbrushes and then have a good spit session on Diouf. That should make him think twice next time.
