Dear DPers, We are building a portal for one of our clients and they will have professionals working for them. Those professionals will be able to sign up and chat live with the visitors regarding their medical / health related problems. This means we will have to provide those professionals with the desktop applications. Whenever a visitor comes and selects a professional, he will be notified by the desktop application and he will be able to chat live with the visitor. I will need unlimited operators and ALL the chat data should be kept in 1 master database as well so that the portal can pay those professionals on monthly basis after cutting their commissions. Can you please suggest any live chat software solution or provider for this? Regards!

http://www.igniterealtime.org/ with the Fastpath plugins installed and Spark on the desktop allows for web chat, not sure if it stores the chat history or not. http://livehelp.stardevelop.com/ is another one that might work for you. In both cases you'll need to use departments to allow the visitor to select the professional to talk with.
We did try all but now decided to go for a custom one. None of them fits our requirements! Thanks all!
