Live Chat Software

    Hi all,

Happy holidays if you are in NA.

So I'm looking for the best live chat/help software there is.

Years ago I used one & it wasn't that great.

    Features I want are:

    1. Makes a loud noise when someone tries to connect b/c we don't want to have to sit on the site all day waiting, as it's not a busy site.

    2. We can try & contact them even if they haven't initiated contact.

    3. Allows me to see transcripts of conversations.

    4. Allows surfer to read over previous conversation.

    5. Won't screw up the site hogging the memory, won't cause problems with popups already on the site, etc.

    6. The skin is nice looking or we can change it.

I think that's it for now.

    Thanks

    Michelle

Back in the day I was using phplive which is top notch and really nice looking. Chatzilla is apparently pretty popular these days but I don't speak from direct experience on that one.

    Hope that helps,
    Nigel

LOL, sorry I have to ask, why are you linking to someone else's services URL?

I was just about to PM Dan when I realized you aren't Dan :(

Thanks I'll check your recommendations out.

We have a few things up our collective sleeves if you will. You are welcome to pm Dan directly ;). Either way it will get done.

There is no point in posting fundamentally the same thread twice.

I am not going to get into it much at this point other than to say it involves a bit of SEO, a swarm of bees and a llama that goes by the name of Spud.

Not to mention his thread is the only SEO related service over there that is not a complete load of [insert poop gif here]

you should check out software called "Who's on" its created by a UK software company called Parkersoft, its a fantastic product and gives you live analytic details too, shows exactly whos on your website and you can target them real time, you can see exactly what they typed in to see your website and you can click on them to request a chat live with them its amazing, i use it on 3 of my ecommerce websites :D

Thanks guys & yes, Kayako is pricey the last time I checked. :)

I care mostly about a loud noise going off when someone IMs the c/s rep. Do these all do that?

I am not sure about the parkersoft product, it is more like whos.amung.us product. That is not what he is looking for. he is looking to initiate chat with the website visitor. I have seen this in use in zopim (the last time I checked it was still in private invitation-only beta and so was still free). You could still use olark (unable to initiate conversation with website visitor but visitor can choose to chat with you) or you can use livezilla. (open source)

    Thanks for your comments.

Interested in this as well. This seems like such a silly thing to pay for hosted/subscription based services.

I think Help desk hosting services by kayako meet your requirement.
My company personally used it and find it great compare to those free live chat script.
