Listings with "www" appearing in search results

Lately I have seen more and more websites listed in Yahoo's results without "www", so only domain.com is listed iso www.domain.com

This really bothers me, because now all of my Keyword Tracker data of the past few years are unusable, as my site doesn't rank anymore with www.domain.com

I was wondering if other people have noticed the same and if so maybe an explanation or even a remedy.

All websites have been 301'd for several years from domain.com to www.domain.com

Do you have a listing in the Yahoo directory? Perhaps it is pulling your site info from there. If so there is a meta tag to stop Yahoo from loading up the directory info.

    OK, thanks for the link.

I guess it's just a glitch, as I haven't changed anything on my sites and none of the backlinks are going to non-www version.

Still very strange and very annoying...

Hehe, just noticed that I used the wrong title for the thread, it should read "Listings WITHOUT..."

Have you tried a redirection of one to the other ?? www > no-www ?
I believe it will solve all your problems

I used .htaccess redirect for a similar problem. playhard.co.uk and playhard.co.uk/index.php were listed seperately, when they shouldnt be.

.htaccess redirect solved that problem so the engines always see it as one page.

Thanks for the advice people, but as you can read in my opening post, I have done that already for many years...

That is the whole point I am trying to make, there seems to be no logic as to why Yahoo would treat sites like this and as rustrybrick pointed out, I am not the only one.

I agree that typing www is not needed, but since I think that with www looks better and most not-so-internet-savy expect it that way, I have 301'd it, so it has the best of both worlds.

As for SEO, it really doesn't matter which version you use, just be consistent and 301 one version to the other.

Perhaps you should use a permalink redirect plugin to point all your traffic to www.domain.com and not a s ingle one to domain.com.

This way it would get a higher ranking on SERP.

I just use the Rank Checker FF plugin from SEOBook.com, and it displays both www and non-www rankings if you just enter the domain name without the www. So this may be an option until this can be fixed.
