yes i think this might help you... as PR always depends on backlinks... so if these websites are off some PR and this is there PR is greater than you then this might help you in getting some PR

It might, if you submit to enough free directories and get a good category listing. But we're talking about the difference between PR0 and PR3, so long as you're lucky and get a high acceptance rate. Just forget about the green bar, it's not a magic bullet for Google traffic anyway.

It depends on the directory you are going to submit to. DMOZ and Google are free and submitting to them does make considerable difference in your SEO. Handpick some few free directories to make sure that your website is listed well.

    Thats complete nonsense.

Free web directories submissions do bring you a pagerank. I know people to have obtained upto pagerank 4 and maintaining the same from years submitting only to free directories.

Well good for you, I know people too. What i am trying to do here is dis way this person from chasing PageRank, because that's not what you should submit to directory for.

But its what most people advised in the past, many drummed it into the heads of others, you must get pr, you must raise your pr.

What if the OP wants pr, regardless of it being healthy or not to chase it.

I would say, tell him the right think, it will improve pagerank but you shouldn't add to directories for PR.

Maybe the question is to ask does submitting to free directories increase traffic from search engines?

Is it worthy to submit to 400 free directories with pr0-pr1 and expect a lot traffic because of the backlinks?
