I have a problem. Not many free directories want to list my forum. The reason is that it is on domain.com/forum and is treated as a deep link. Thats to bad because its stand alone forum. Do you have any tip to alternative places to list this forum for free?

wld suggest u go for paid directories as it wld help u also in the long run, if u do intend to put content on your main domain. In fact, i wld strongly suggest that you do put some content there as it will help u grow your forums as well.

but sorry, don't know where u can list your standalone forums in free directories....

    There are 2 options only:
    1) change the url of the forum
    2) submit to paid directories

Just make a mainpage that pulls forum posts and displays liek 30 of them. Search engines GO APESHIT when you do that. Lots of fresh content everyday. I cannot stress enough how everyone should do this.

Have you considered moving it to a subdomain? Many directories will accept subdomains freely.

Yes, I suppose I would not lose any links or anything making a 301 redirect from domain.com/forum to forums.domain.com ?
