The most important thing isn't how you submit, it's what you submit. There just isn't any use submitting 10 page blogs about credit repair, or sites with cheap rewritten PLR articles that no one will read but a spider... or anything with gobs of non-unique content. But if your site is genuinely up to scratch content wise, I think you can help your chances by just using common sense and making it easy for the editor. I have a look at how the editor formats the descriptions in the category, maybe even copy/paste one that almost suits my site and change it. I try to find 1 useful keyword I can use that is not already used a lot in that section, and fit it in if possible, but no more than 1. I only use the proper sitename and never try to slip in extra keywords there. I put my full name and use my isp email address that includes my name.. and has also been used with all my other sites that have been listed. (I think being able to show a history of having sites accepted can help sometimes) Basically I just try and make it as easy as possible for an editor to go click, approve, without having to spend the 15 minutes required to assure themselves I am not a "spammer". Which I think is the part of the review process that probably takes the most effort. I don't always get listed fast, but sometimes I do, and I almost always get listed eventually.
Thank You everyone.. This month I seem to be quite lucky with DMOZ as one more of my sites (in my sig) has been listed at DMOZ ... After the listing it has gone from page 2 to page 1 in google and around 3 visitors daily from DMOZ... Of course, I cannot confirm if the rise in SERPS is only because of the DMOZ listing
