I know it takes some time for listing to show up in its relevant category, but its been little over week that i am watching my url in dmoz search in relevant category but when i go to category its never there, i have tried IE8, Chrome and Firefox. Now what?

It probably has not been approved by an editor as of yet. Once they approve it then it will show in that category.

Dmoz listings can take up to years to get approved, if of course, your website is professional and DMOZ quality.

When did i say its not approved? It is approved as i can see the listing when i search for the url. It is just that it is not showing up in the category as of yet. May be some editor might be able to explain it properly. Remember its more than a week now that it is showing up in search result but when i click in the category its not there.

Then you're looking for your link in wrong category.
Most likely editor moved it to one he believes more appropriate for your site
    or
I know our directory will show link in category only after we run DB update

    ;)

If it has been accepted it turns up in the category pretty close to straight away. If you can't find it in the category, then you looking in the wrong category.

What is the URL (or pm me the URL) and someone can check for you.

err mate, have you ever searched for your site in dmoz? you might have but i doubt you had paid attention, this is what you see when you search for a domain which has listings in dmoz http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=google.com and you can clearly see the subcategory tree under each listing.

Thanks for the PM. I looked into it (I not an editor, so have no inside information). You right. It shows up in the search for the domain. When you click on the category link, it is not in the category.

Now for the bad news ... the only explanation I have, is that you were listed and now you are not. Perhaps the editor listed you in error; or another editor unlisted you for further review; or ...

The search database is built every few weeks at DMOZ (or something like that), so I guess you were listed and included in the next search function build, then you were removed. When the search function is next rebuilt, I suspect you may be gone from that (or maybe you get re-added to the category or listed in another category)

Perhaps an editor can give a better explanation of the search function and how much it lags behind the listing in a category.

Thanks for looking into. Well, i really hope they list it, the site is relevant to the category and publishes great content. I was thinking on the same line that may be some editor added it and then some other editor removed it instantly?

Just hoping for it to show up any time.

Check the Google cache of the category. You were listed. This would explain what I described above.

It likely sat there for a few days actually as nothing in the ODP moves quickly...they don't call it the dinosaur for nothing ;) And in a few more days it'll likely be even be gone from the search.

Don't worry about it though. Keep adding content to your site, and keep promoting it through other means. Many sites NOT in the ODP out rank all the sites listing in the category they belong in... so it's no big deal.

    Hello,
That may the editor has removed your category to another category. You can search your category by searching there.
