    1) Downtime

That is probably the biggest complaint you will get.

Another one might be hacks, I have only had the problem once with my blog, but thankfully my host was really cool and when he found out it was my site getting hacked he took a backup by himself and took the site down to make sure it did not get defaced.

    Hackers sux.

    1) Host say they have '30 days moneyback guarantee' but when requested at the middle of the month, they give lame excuse not to do so.
    2) Downtime once a week and more than 12 hours. They blame harddisk are crashed. Once a week ?
    3) Server firewall block you, their customer, from entering WHM/Cpanel.

In this case, they are westernavenue.biz.

That seams odd, for a gator cpanel.. I have very rarely ever had any problem logging in to a hostgator cPanel.. The most reliable shared servers I have ever dealt with.. Just no proxy allowed! And that is probably one very good reason why they are one of the most reliable shared server hosts around. That and the fact that they have hundreds of servers and do not over load them.

    Definitely downtime.

You can only oversell if you have the resources. I believe that HostGator has done a nice job with keeping up with their sales because and only because they have the servers to handle the bandwidth and disk space being used up.

That is the problem and thats what causes the most problems with hosts, overselling of their servers. If you want a decent ammount of premium bandwith on a highend server expect to pay for it.

Its hosts who offer 1TB space and 2TB transfer for $2 that ruin the hosting industry. It may sound like a good deal but expect massive ammounts of downtime. These deals also make it harder for good hosting companys who dont oversell their servers to make sales because people are lured in by stupid deals.

looks better for example 250GB bandwidth for 3 $ than 10GB bandwidth for 5$ , this is another reason
so the 2 answers for : why people buy cheap plans with overselling are ...

1 - because search for something cheap or not expensive

2 - because looks more attractive a plan with overselling

and finally a customers ask himself ... why to buy for 5 $ a plan with 10GB bandwidth when i can buy for the same money or less a plan with 250GB bandwidth ...

is a kind of pshichology ...receive more with less effort or money ... who don't need or want this ?

Thats not my point, im not saying that it doesn't look more attractive to the customer my point is that overselling is a problem as the name suggests your selling more resources than what are abailable whether that be space, transfer but more often than not overloading the CPU or memory which will result in slow unresponsive servers.

Thats why in my opinion overselling is a problem.

Yes ! well every client is seeking something. a client maybe disparate for a 1$ plan while another is seeking a 100$ plan to get the max out of his sites

and both models get what they pay for ;)
