Just to add, article writing can get you work as well.

I just hired a team to do some work solely on the basis of reading one of their syndicated articles about a niche area of technical expertise.

I recognised that they knew what they were talking about, and even more importantly, they were available to perform the work required.

3 weeks after submitting articles to a host of sites my page rank jumped to 4. Take time on the article because it is checked by HUMANS. Also make is appropriate to the site you are promoting to get targeted traffic. It took 3 weeks for my page ranking to jump...I submitted to almost all the sites on the list, but some other sites picked up the article as well...
MSN will pick up the links almost immediately, but opther seacrh engines lag...am still waiting on them, but they will come in time :p

Working on my next article now.

People, PageRank is cool :) but what is our main (FIRST) target?
Right, we need more visitors! And I want to ask, how articles
reflected on visiting of site? It's important especially if your key-phrase
is not very popular.. and if your site already in top10, but traffic still very low.
If I'll write an article and submit it, can I to expect on increasing of traffic?

I've not write articles before, but looks like that it very positively
affects on rankings, and I think make a one (for my anti-spyware site).
    Have any assumptions?

Thank you. ...and sorry for my eng...

I don't mean to be negative, but I've submitted some articles to around 10 sites and I haven't seen anything but a trickle of traffic (2-3 users from all sites combined). What am I doing wrong?

Is it quality? You can view some of my articles here:
    http://www.moneymanagementblog.com

    Is it the article site?
All 10 that I've submitted to are on the above list(s).

    Is it time?
I submitted my first article over three months ago.

I see everyone praising how well these article submission sites work, but I think they're a waste of time. Obviously, it's something I'm doing wrong! Please help!

You're not alone. I submitted over 10 articles as a test to see how well it generates traffic. I have gotten the same results. About 2 or 3 users coming in from ezinearticles and I still wonder if those 2 or 3 visitors is really just myself when I checked out my article one time.

There has to be something we are doing wrong. I hear all these webmasters saying it's the greatest traffic building technique, yet I'm getting nothing.

I give all article sites a chance. I've only noticed traffic from searchwarp. None of the others have really appeared in my log files. BLs are fine and dandy, but I need traffic. BLs come and go on these freebie deals.

I use iSnare and eZineArticles and have had some great results.

But, I was wondering if anyone thinks it's worth the time and effort to submit to so many sites?

Also, are the auto submitters worth it? I find that many times my article's format changes from site to site and I have to tweak the format a bit for each site. Wouldn't an auto submitter have this problem?

my problem with article submitters is that it contributes to article spam.

I take time to write unique articles for each article site (that drives traffic) and submit articles often.

I'm starting to see the same articles on all the article sites now, and, to me, its really annoying because its contributing to a greater problem online ie lack of unique content.

Is it possible to too many article postings creates a duplicate content problem if all the sites are similar?

I wouldn't want a ton of duplicate content pointing back to me, personaly.

But would it hurt? Probably not.

See I submit articles for traffic. On another forum, one of the sites I post to said that my articles get twice as much traffic as anyone else's. I like that. And I know I get conversions from them too.

Submitting articles for BL's, as i said, is nice...but my sites need traffic. I'm in a position where I have inventory to sell and the longer it sits, the less value it is, so it has to move out of here at a decent pace or the overall profit goes down.
