List of trusted free and paid directories 2011

I definitely consider Joeant listing a worthwhile investment (without paying any attention to the pr). They are turning 10 years old next month. You won't find many directories that have been operating for that long. Google, Bing and the rest of the gang definitely know that.

 

Is it worth paying for PR? No. PR has no value to anyone unless you are in the business of skinning webmasters who know no better. Is it worth paying for someone to review your site and to secure a link? Yes, its just a question of how much is too much. It's also a question of how long the link will last and whether it comes with that all important anchor text.

You use directories to build targeted back links. They are the only legitimate resource available to us and if used responsibly they are invaluable. But if you know what you are doing there is no magic involved. It's hard monotonous work you have do in conjunction with a networking programme.

What happened in the great purge of yesteryear? Did botw escape the axe? Or did they get penalised?

There are more than the few experienced link builders, who will openly admit, that a link is just a link and that the value lies in the anchor text and the expected lifetime of the link that you get. Common sense really.

 

We have directories that were set up a year or two before that. They don't have as much content, far from it in fact, but the content they have is generally a lot better. Do you think Google, Bing and the rest know and recognise that? I doubt it. But it should tell webmasters that there is a good chance that we will see out another year if just to maintain that slim lead over the also rans.

Yes, i agree with hhsaus . Search Engine evaluate and prioritize inbound links from high authority sites what ever it is directory or websites.
Not only authority but also check websites/directories design, value, age of domain and both human and search engines friendly usability.
