So why is this thread exactly buddy? ;) to promote my own directories or to promote other good directories?

there , i took my own directories out.

the thread is to share a list of good directories with others (and I considered my own directories good too), but perhaps some people (like you) saw it differently

I missed the pre-edit post but if you had included your own directories in that list I would have asked the same question?

The criteria I'm using are that "they have worked for me". Simple :)

Submitting to all of those directories cost about $500 for normal submissions and over $1000 for featured submissions. That is why they are not for everyone. If your site can return that much (or more) by submitting to these directories then you should submit to them.

Maybe I should not have disclosed the list though. The less publicity about them "working" the less G would bother them.

But how have they worked for you? I've also submitted to some of the directories in your list but haven't had much traffic from them apart from JoeAnt.

well, you are asking a question that related to different webmasters differently.

You should decide what YOU want to accomplish by submitting to a directory and decide whether the directory is worth it.

If you want to know MY business plan about submitting to directories, I would have to give you a different one for every one my websites.

I submit some of my sites for establishing my brand and some of them to gain back traffic (amount of traffic is irrelevant, ROI is what counts) plus other reasons that change from site to site.

I'll submit to any where my link is appreciated. By browsers, search engines and whatever.

Directorymix is an amazing example of what can be achieved by a innovative programmer who constantly wants the best in all features, and is constantly looking to add new original ideas to make it a better directory.

Does that make it better than JoeAnt/Botw? Both sites are a lot more simple looking and have less features/flashy cool stuff. Does this make them worse?

All depends on your view of a directory. Which is why I'm happy to say that I love directories like Dirjournal and Authority directory as they combine both excellent features and design alongside great category/link structure - which is what the original idea behind a directory was - to aid end users.

Fair enough of a stab at me.

However, now it's my turn to stab back....

Did you even bother to realize that BOTH dirjournal and authoritydirectory and their 'features' are derived from directorymix; Meaning, directorymix makes and has them, and DJ and AD ordered and had them implemented.

So, the so called features/flashy cool stuff in directorymix, that you seem to have chosen to knock, are the exact same 'Loved Features' you just finished your post off with.

Your post of 'comparison' as to what someone else has, and what you 'Love so much on others' is hypocritical to say the least, and that makes you a hypocrit.

The next time you choose to look on both sides of the fence, perhaps next time it would be better to know what you are talking about first, before jumping to hypocritical conclusion.

If you want to speak category structure, directorymix is different and revamped.

If you want to speak design, hahaha, directorymix is a gorgeous design.

You know what, all that I can say about your post to summarize it up is; Duh

Wow Rob, were you in a bad mood when you wrote this. I was shocked to say the least.

Not quite sure how that was a stab at you.

Around this time 15 months ago I paid a bunch load of money for your mods on Zorg Directory. I was well aware they were created by you and first used - at the time on Dump. Therefore i'm not oblivious to the fact that any features you work into others projects will be already established on your own directories for a decent grace period.

    And I like it.

Indeed it does. I really like it, probably more than any of the other directories mentioned in this thread. Thats why I've hired him before.

IMO you can use the word "you like" but not "best" directory list,
    It's more acceptable.

The title reads: " List of the best directories (IMO) "

I think that explains that this is my personal "Best Directories List"

"IMO" abbreviation for In My honest Opinion You dint add the word honesty in there,...may ask why? not to doubt you or anything, but you did add your own directory and your friend Rob C (aka, an0n) in that list, again, not to say that they are not the "best" and I think both are the best too...In My honest Opinion.:p

IMHO is more used for humble then honest opinion. See Acronymfinder.

So he might not be honest, but humble.
