perfect! Just had a client inquire about international SEO. Now I can at least give them an educated guess.

    Questions:
    1. When you submit to these non-US Search engines do you arrange and post-up a full translation of the website?
    2. Have you had much of a response?

    Background
I have my own no-budget new site. I'd love to be able to afford proper translations, but I can't. I do have an "angle" which I can use which should be aceptable to my target audience (who will generally have English as a second language). I developed a simple four paragraph text piece (Overview, Benefit, Offer, Call for Action), and using 3 machine translators (Babel Fish, Worldlingo, Google) translated it back and forth with the machines until the English was so simple that it passed the test of being re-translated back into English, emerging basically the same as it started but still made sense relative to my topic. I then pasted those texts (in French, German, Spanish, Portuguese) into four new pages (the regular Index page + the foreign text), which also had their keywords and description Meta Tags each translated into the respective language, and then submitted the URLs of the pages to the corresponding SEs of the countries.

The response so far? A lot of work for very little to nothing, acording to my logs.

I did forget to translate the Robots tags though, but hopefully they don't care. Anybody know?

I used Alta Vista to tranlate the submission page , so that I could fill in the blanks correctly. I did not translate the pages on my site.

ABout 20% of my traffic is from non English speaking countries.
