List of Free/Paid/Niche Directories launched in August

Do you keep a masterlist that you add all of the new directories to?

 

No, I thought to start keeping one, but I dont know whether I can do it or not.

 

I would say that we cant manage a master list of the directories as few are free for a day and next day they turn into paid so it is very confusing and hard to manage a list, although vilesilencer and criticdirectory lists are very well maintained by the owners.

Only 7 categories?

 

I've just put it up and am adding categories as I receive submissions. BlogParty.net is getting 400-500 uniques daily and has a PR of 4 already. So however empty it is, it won't stay that way and it's already rocking

 

First off. Great post by Iceberg. He introduced the same directories on my forum, and after a bit of work we were able to extract about 25-30 good general directories for inclusion...

To give you an idea of the time it takes. It took about 2-3 hours to wade through Icebergs list and reorganise, review, and update the lists with the information. What will discourage you is the fact that its getting more and more time consuming (not less) as directories are jumping around all over the place.

The day I launched the latest offical update (15th Sept), 10 of the new directories converted to paid/reciprocal models. That's 10 changes that needed to be made and it had only just been launched. Second day, a few more changed and a whole bunch of new ones came through. You have to spend a lot of hours everyday to keep the lists maintained.

If you are interested in doing it, keep that in mind before you begin as once you start it is difficult to keep up.

If you need an indication of how it affects your time, check out my post count. I do not get a whole lot of time to make posts on here, but I have been arond for a while.

 

It would be great if these directory scripts had an api that could be polled to get the submission status. Then maintaining lists could be greatly automated and I'm sure a lot of time that is used checking and updating by you guys could be put to better use.

Just want to say very nice to see this list. And thanks Iceberg for inclusion of ours in there. That was nice.

I know it must take alot of time and agree it would be nice to see some sort of api that would auto update. The emergence of another profiting script that somebody could make.

Thanks Mike but I am very very busy with my one and half month old daughter. Last month I've become a father and I just cant think of anything else except her. I am enjoying a lot with this little devil and spending sleepless nights.
