I can't remember if cloaking is the right term, But Matt Cutts made it clear that Google looks VERY poorly on showing different content for the search engines than regular visitors.

    Why would it?

Quote from Wikipedia: Cloaking is a black hat SEO technique in which the content presented to the search engine spider is different from that presented to the users' browser.

I've heard of a auto posting tool called xrumer. It generates profiles on forums and posts automatically. I doubt it can look natural though. What'd you think, guys?

@glitto: 'nofollow' is a tag placed on links by some blogs/websites, telling search engines not to bother following them. For Google, this means that the link from their site to yours doesn't carry any pagerank weight, giving you no benefit. Some search engines don't obey this tag (I think Ask.com is one of them).

Make a post in a forum, then click View Source on the page. Search for "nofollow" and see if you find it.

There's a movement within the blogging community to remove that nofollow tag and instead are called 'dofollow' or 'Ifollow' sites (no tags).

You can also go to http://sitefaust.com, which is fairly new, but does allow sigs and is not nofollow.
