Wouldn't that be nice if such list existed and constantly been updated as domains expire? Or is there one?
I did create one (for personal use the trick is that when you call WHOIS information 10,000 times your IP gets blocked. So now I first check if www.DOMAIN exists, then if there is a NS records, a SOA record an if that still fails I will call for WHOIS information. I could put up a website that lists these domains? It's quiet a long list btw. A lot of domains that are 'on hold', 'pending_delete' etc. when I tried to (re-)capture a domain (lost one before -- forgot to renew it in time) I failed: some australian company beat me to it.
thanks for some great info. if i were you, i'd probably put up a site with these names. i'd only include ones that have been deleted so that the list is not that long and is immediately usable.
Actually expired: no domains. They are al (re)captured as soons as they are free. If you want to hijack a domain, you must know when it expires and then quickly claim it as yours and hope you were the first to do so. secureservers (Godaddy and alike) offer a sort of BackOrder system where you can buy domains that are not yet expired. As soon as they do, they will try to capture it for you. I tried that a couple of times (20$ (!)) but no luck so far.
i see. how naive of me to think that it was not a big deal. thanks a lot for good info again. giving you some nice green rep
I *did* have a bookmark for a site that listed all the expired domains still in DMOZ. I tried to find it the other day but had no luck... I'll look again and see if I can't dig it out. Edit: Nope... Can't find it - Sorry
penndeer DOT com expires today ... its listed in DMOZ and Yahoo Recreation/Outdoors/Hunting/Game/Big_Game/Deer/ recreation/outdoors/hunting/by_region/u_s__states/pennsylvania/
coarsefish DOT com Drops tomorrow and is listed in DMOZ at Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Recreation_and_Sports/Sports/Country_Sports/Fishing/Coarse_Fishing/
If you look at the categories you'll see they're no longer listed. Don't be fooled by the outdated search database, give it a few days and it'll be updated also.
